England squad.

So after 2 years under Capello the squad is announced and it's the same old questions as always.

No left winger.
Gerrard and Lampard playing together in Midfield.
Despict a number of contenders no right winger stepping to finally put the nail in Beckham international career.
Heskey still doesn't score goals.
No reliable goalkeeper.
Poor form going into the competition.

By poor form you mean winning both games? Yes, we didn't play well but we still won - that is the mark of a good/lucky team and you need that to do well in any cup competiton. Inter Milan didn't exactly set the world on fire winning the CL this season,

We qualified top of the group with most goals scored out of ALL the teams, including Spain. Capello knows what he is doing - good to see you think you know better than one of the worlds best ever managers tho :p

I just find it somewhat annoying the same questions has been left unanswered going into a major competition again. We may do well and i'll support them, but personally i'm not feeling that optimistic right now.

Capello knows exactly what he is doing. Walcott got dropped because he wasn't doing what he was asked to.

I'm not worried, Capello is our best player.

He's the best player in that he gets the best out of the players.

We won't win it but I expect him to go one better than Sven and we will lose to Brazil in the semi-final (unless we get lucky).

With every competition you need luck and you need to be able to win a penalty shoot-out. We never seem to have either, which is why we won't win it.

I take no pleasure in what has happened. But one thing is clear Capello's management style has not gelled with the England Players and looking at the reports coming out of the training camp over the weekend it's not a happy camp. Seems like they can either take the France route and giveup and basically go on strike (National sterotype much!) or knuckle down as a group of players and get on with it. Hopefully they'll take the latter and progress, despict Capello.

Also worth noting is all the South America teams are kicking arse right now.

The players are spoilt prima-donnas. Nothing to do with the manager, they are just a bunch of brats. John Terrys news conference proves it. That wasn't about England, it was about John Terry and Capello taking the armband off him. QQ you mate's bird shagging cunt. He really is lowlife scum.

They all have sassive egos with no justification. They are a disgrace and have no pride in being an international footballer.

Thank god they won't get anywhere near winning the World Cup. I think I'd vomit if I saw Cole. Terry et al holding it.

Aye, surely if they're spoilt brats that can't work together they shouldn't have been chosen?

Your opinion is worthless....

not being a football following person, but erm if you don't pick them can you tell me who you would pick? I don't think the England football team has much depth... aka why these guys think they have a god given right to play.

imho there shite and should just come home.

I don't follow football myself so no idea, it just seems that saying 'it's not the managers fault - he picked a bunch of tards!' doesn't make a whole lot of sense :p

To be honest I think that was just Ky trying to save face, it doesn't really make any sense.

They are the best players. The fact they are spoilt prima-donnas is just the way it is.

If he didn't pick Rooney, Terry et al, he'd be crucified. I'm not trying to save any face; Capellos record speaks for itself. Unlike our players in an England shirt. Anyone remember the last World Cup, Euro Qualifying campaign, etc?

They don't care about playing for their country. Its been like that for a long, long time now.

Which brings us back to my first post in this thread and it's point when the squad was announced, it's the same old, same old. You made a valid point at the time that Capello could get the best out of them, where so many had failed before - but sadly as of yet it doesn't seem so.
But it's not like we are the only country under performing at least, and we are still more likely to get out of the group than be going home of Thursday!

Ky is right.
I'm more inclined to blame the players than the manager. Bear in mind the manager can ignore the newspapers having a shitfit when he doesn't pick their darlings if he wants, but the sun could probably have him out of a job in a week if it tried.

Capellio or whoever has been like that for years. Notice it's only now the pressure is on that players complain about him. It's a lot easier to blame him than to blame themselves for being terrible at football tournaments.

It's the classic case of overpaid morons with ego problems failing to live up to their press. They have bottled it, and are now blaming anyone but themselves. That little "backroom Coup" attempt by wassisface proves this even more.

On the plus side, at least all those mates who spent at least a week berating me for not following the world cup, going on about "having some pride in your country's team" have shut the hell up. Blissful silence.

On the downside you have people who know very little about football, or care about it spouting rubbish like they are some expert because they've read something about it in the *insert paper/website* - coming out with amusing soundbites like 'over paid' (no really, how incitful - because it's clearly only English players who are paid so much.....oh no wait.). Sometimes they are so knowledgable they even know the name of a player or two!!

*phew* it's lucky the local forum experts are here to correct us.

"The England team visited an orphanage in Cape Town today. "It's heartbreaking to see their sad little faces with no hope" said Jamal aged 6."

It's not my fault you posted a message so funny it could have come from the letters page of the daily mail! (The irony being I've never read The Daily Mail, have no idea if it even has a letters page - but i'm basing my opinion of stuff i've read!)
