If i read this correctly If you assault or are assaulted by a vehicle then a 6 on the attack causes a glancing hit - correct?

Am i missing something with this?

no real problem just checking i understand things.

All in all, im thinking i might like necrons better than Nids :) Dunno why i avoided them in the first place.

i'd say wait for the new codex - should be this year some time.
their current codex was the first codex released for 3rd edition - so its 2 editions out of date now, and a lot of the rules and points and balancing dont really work anymore. also it was necron's first full codex, so there's a lot of it that never really made sense even in 3rd :p.

not saying they're a weak army though. monoliths are an arse to put down for anything except tau generally, and even just their normal troops can take an absolute pounding to take out. the problem is their special troops - they tend to be too expensive, partly because they're paying for 'well be back' when half the time they'll never get to use it, because you've taken out the entire squad in one turn.

Yeah i read some advice that simply said : if you take a WBB unit take it in pairs and keep them close together to keep that WBB roll valid.

There also seems to be mixed feelings on heavy destroyers vs destroyers since the latter can still glance on a 6 and throwing mass glances at a vehicle will eventually render it useless...

Mass glances are good v armour 14 stuff if you don't have a lot of things that can pierce it. Against anything lighter than a Landraider you may as well hit it with something that can actually penetrate.

You also need to remember, necrons fail at close combat. Even the cc ones. 3rd and 4th ed, this was ok - you had 3 to 4 turns to shoot the crap out of them before you were caught up in cc. Now though, with generally closer deployments, and running, and fleet being more common, pretty much any cc army worth the name will be hitting you on turn 2. They can't consolidate into combat though, so that's some consolation.

Monoliths, admittedly, are hideously op on an individual basis. But people will just ignore them, target warriors, and make you phase out.
Give em a go though, certainly a big change from nids!
