Ouch!

35-45 Million + Van Der Vaart + Robben = the more logical deal?

Van Der Vaart was only being used as a sub and that was before Kaka arrived. He's better than Anderson and Scholes is getting on.
Robben is a solid replacement for Ronaldo (if he can stay fit).

Good riddance to that greasy, egotistical, preening, self-loving, diving, winking wankstain.

BAI! Don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out.

Robben is a great player, but he had a lot of injuries this last year or so. As you say, I'd have pushed to include him in the deal.

I suspect the Mancs will be sronger without Ronaldo, in the long run, though not necessarily straight away.

Taggart is tactically poor and could never have got the best out of the player, once Queiroz left. A lot of games this season they've won due to individual quality, in spite of the tactics they've tried to use.

I expect to see them putting out a much more traditional 4 4 2, which is all Whisky Nose is really good at. Can't see who they are going to sign for the holding midfield roll, though. Says a lot that Fletcher is their best player in that position. He's a good player, but not top notch.

Probably depends alot of what sort of condiction Hargreaves comes back in, and if Ferguson trusts him to stay fit - Carrick is fine in games Man Utd dominate (which is 80% of Prem Match), but as soon as he's required to defend he's hopeless, and he tends to underpreform in big matches.
They could probably pickup Senna as a cheap(ish) short term option.

I hope they go to pieces, finish outside the top 4 and that cockspanker Ferguson has a coronary on the touchline :D

Even though the top 4 are all in a interesting position going into the new season - Liverpool have money problems, Arsenal are still waiting for there youngsters to click, Man Utd have had to sell the best player in the world (currently) and Chelsea are on their 100th manager in the past 3 year - I still can't see anyone breaking past them.

Chelsea will be fine, as long as they have (a committed) Drogba. They'd been in trouble if they lost him. Irreplaceable considering their best (only?) playing style, IMO.

It'll be interesting to see who Redface signs. If Chavski can keep most of their squad and bring in a couple of good quality new faces, I can't see past them for the title next year.

Liverpool need to hold onto Alonso and Mascherano plus clear out the chaff, of which there is a lot. Bring in good backup for Torres and find a couple of decent wingers. Then they should be contenders.

I think Man U will suffer from a post Ronaldo hangover. I don't think whoever they buy will replace the number of goals he scored and made. Haha.

Arsenal will continue to bumble along unless Wenger signs a destructive midfielder, two decent defenders and a left winger. Which he won't, because he's a stubborn bast.

Be interesting to see how close Man City can get, I still think they'll fall someway short next season.

Can't believe the only team interested in capitalising on Real Madrid's clearout is Spurs.
Surely someone must be interested in Van Der Vaart and Sneijder (who I think is better than Kaka).

I am glad to see the back of this <insert Ky's wonderful description> and I agree that United will be better as a team without him. Rooney will be moved into a more central role where he will be a pain in the Ronaldo for defenders. They also have the problem that several of their players will be retiring very soon and they need to be replaced. I read rumours today about van Persie - if he leaves the Arse then they will suffer big time and could lose their top 4 place to Everton, who I think will do well. Arse really should have signed Barry, as he should have gone there and not Man City, who are well short of the top 4. Chelski will be a threat I am sure, even though 1 or 2 of their players are getting disillusioned (eg carvalho, whom I rate very highly). Liverpool need maybe 2 players, 1 not being Johnson but it seems as if he's going there. Rafa's hand will hopefully be forced as he will have to try out the likes of Martin Kelly, Krizstian Nemeth and Jay Spearing. There are a lot of good kids coming through who are maybe 18 to 24 months away from the squad (eg Chris Bauctmann, Lauri Dalla Valle). Plus Lucas thinks he's finally adjusted to the PL so maybe he will do something good.

Taken from a decent source on one of the forums I go on :

Madrid sent some representatives to negotiate over Alonso and Arbeloa at the end of last week. They offered a straight deal including some of the Dutch contingent (Van der Vaart and Sneijder), then they offered Gago, and then they offered Negredo. Each time, Rafa asked what values Madrid were placing on these players and finally burst into incredulous laughter. "Remind me - who beat whom by five goals to nil in the Champions League? he tells the now flustered Madrid negotiators. "Only it must be us who lost, because my players, whom you are wanting to take away, are worth nothing, whereas yours, whom you are trying to discard, each seem to have higher values". And the negotiations ended there and then!
