Was looking forward to this - but the pilot was utter drivel. Can't remember evgr seeing such a collection of dull clich�d characters drawn together in one show.

I was a tad confused when this went to Channel 4 rather than Sky, I assumed it was so bad that Sky didn't want it....

In context and defense of Shield my 9yr old and 5yr old loved it to bits. I suspect given it was on at 7pm that

1. The intended audience is younger than you think
2. Its not taking itself seriously
3. its not taking itself seriously (i repeated this one because i couldnt think of anything else to sayother than its shit if you look at it purely from an adult perspective expecting a CSI, NCIS, Burn Notice, Breaking Bad approach to super heroes)

I didn't switch it off, will give it a few more goes to see if it gets better. Vast imnprovement needed though.

It was terrible with all the hype I really expected more from the marvel franchise which has done so well in the past with the movies leading up to Avengers. Will keep watching it on the basis I hope it improves, and I keep thinking to myself that its about agents in Shield seeking out superheroes and not the other way round.
I agree this is probably why it didnt hit one of the sky channels first.

I actually rated Atlantis better.

Now the new Sleepy Hollow does look good, and friends in the states have assured me I wont be disappointed, but we will see.

Me too. I really didn't expect to be saying that after the pilot of both episodes - not that Atlantis was anything great, but it was mostly lighthearted fun. SHIELD was simply a completely joyless experience and with those trite shallow cliche ridden characters I honestly can't see it improving.

The two socially inept tech geeks who are fluent in exposition.......argh!

It seems to be setting its sights on being a "Comedy Spy Thriller". OK then it needs to measure up to programs like The man From Uncle, Chuck or I spy. Nope. Watched Episode 2 and there were a mere 5 seconds of actual goodness in the whole thing. At the end when SLJ was in it. And those little drones seem to be this series " Sonic screwdriver" - something to get the "heroes" out of a sticky situation without the writers actually having to bother to think.

The second episode had somewhat better action scenes, but the characters are just dreadful - the whole 'we won though teamwork' morale was like something from an 80's kids cartoon.
