We have an indication of ANET's official policy in this thread. (Post 55 from Gaile Gray - Community Relations Manager)
It looks like they don't like them.
I don't either. Whilst I can totally accept the argument that it saves time for someone who can easily afford the money, I am nervous about quite how far people who make a living from a game are prepared to go to maintain or increase that living.
Not that I could prove it, but I strongly suspect it makes the hacks appear that much sooner. Hacks for some games have passed for thousands of dollars in the past.
