Anybody up for Return to Nek Castle group?

I heard a number of good things about the "Return to Nek Castle" instance, that it is cool, fun and challenging. Well, anybody care to organise a group hunt there that could use a Level 45 (hopefully soon to be 46) Troubador along?

Always a good laugh, though the hardest single group zone in the game. Really need to be all level 50s and with a good mix of people to compleat it all and kill Lord Everling.

Would be up for a trip though and do all the sisters/named mobs apaert from Everling, should be easy enough for a full group. Youll need to have compleated the Return to Nek castle quest to get into the zone (just goto kill everling in the low level zone to get the quest)

I have killed Everling in the low level version. Not 100% sure what I did after that, but I think I received a quest from some dude close to the entrace to Nek castle who told me to rescue someone. Is that the quest or is my memory a bit dodgy? I also think I zoned in for a quick look and gated out again, but I am not 100% sure on that, tbh.

If I am too low level for it, let me know, don't want people to have a huge risk by dragging me through. :)

Yer that sounds like the quest, I think (if memory is right!) you need to collect 3 tablets from diffrent zones arround the world as part of the quest. (LS/Feerrott ring a bell) but its definatly the quest from the guy outside.

Wouldn't sya you were to low, just maybe a bit risky with Everling...but then it's always going to be a bit risky!

Currently still playing:

Arknen
Babs
Darakor/Darakar
Bozwald
Hathral (although on break atm, will be back for DoF)
Dimitrus (same)
Nium (seems irregular, though - or could just be outside my playtime)
Nymawae (very rarely)
Vixanen (seen a few times again recently)
Omada (same)

I think that's about it. If I missed anybody, my apologies, and feel free to jump in. :)

Hathy, I am only 9% away from 46 now and I expect to be able to hit 47 by the time DoF comes out. I also checked out that quest, have already done the Feerrott part, need to do EL, Lavastorm and Everfrost parts. I can do the EL part alone, since I know in what area the grave stone is, but I will probably need some help with Lavastorm and Everfrost.

Remind me which server we are on. Cant remember and tempted to try it again. Just got 60 on my 2nd character in wow and doing the high end raids but there doesnt feel to be as big a challenge as I had hoped.

We are on Splitpaw. However, Bozwald has left so the people left from ClanUK are about 2 or 3 or so. I am still playing, but I left the guild a month ago. Depending on what char you decide to play, I may have a char in your level range, though.

Must admit wow does need something new for me now
killed all the raid content bar one of the outside dragons
2 level 60 characters one having reached grand marshal in pvp rank
3 lev 40 characters
even a level 23 shaman lurking on azune nobody has spotted yet :)
It just lacks enough high level content atm though with patch 1.9 coming up soon maybe that will improve a little

Must admit even I've lost the WoW bug. Never has that feeling of the old EQ difficulty factor where you REALLY had to be on the ball to pull stuff off:(

You need to do end-game WoW for that Sephy.

There is stuff in BWL and even MC that would make yer hair curl. Even Onyxia is a 'mare compared to EQ bosses.

TBH I can't recall anything in EQ that comes close to the serious WoW boss mobs, at least it isnt zerging some mob with 1 billion hps and hoping that its hp run out before yours do.

If you're not intending to play WoW anymore Cath, can you post on the CC boards and let us know? We wont recruit another Shaman to replace you if you're just on a short break.

True Daeflin but once your geared out in in mc/bwl gear even mc/bwl becomes almost a walk in the park barring the odd whipe which can happen on any boss.
MC we can clear in one normal night and bwl too if we put are minds to it but ther is no point as it leaves nothing but a few dragons to kill for the rest of the week so we normally spread it out to keep active.
I have put a beta AP in Nymawae so hopefully ill get some time to find out for myself but hopefully you are correct.
Hopefully we can get a clanuk guild going in Vanguard that stays together for more than 5 minutes becuase i sure do miss it But im sure that will be a lenghthy disccusion at some point befor it goes live :)

I think we evolves in games as to what is challenging. Memories of me in EQ of challenges would be:
Sky
Hate (The more indoors one and I always get Hate/Fear mixed up)
Sleepers Tomb (not the key getting but mainly being the first to get to the bottom and reset it to the new ST and doing something the very first time with no spoilers, just our brains)

I'm hopeful DDO will achieve the challenge/skill elements without it having to involve massive long fights or hours/days/months os slogging to a target (which wasn't ever the enjoyable or challenging part), with the added help of it's interface to the game. Vanguard I'm sure will do well though and will grab EQ/EQ2/WoWs more hardcore gamers and if they get the fun/grinding mix right it'll take a chunk of WoWs market.

Any MMO's lifespan though should be until it's no longer fun to play, and the times of EQ where that was years and years I don't think will be seen again for most people.

It is though interesting to see people disipate from WoW now, has there been something specific that's happened or have people just all hit the MMO wall at around the same time ?

I think it's content Gottaa. Extro's right that once you've done MC, BWL and the outdoor Dragons there is pretty much nothing left to do in the PvE game. For those guilds the new expansion isn't going to come fast enough and because WoW tried (successfully IMO) to create a working PvP market too, the gaming community that EQ had doesn't exist to the same extent. Alot of people continued to play EQ long past the point where the game itself was the focal point because it managed to create a unique community. It's probably why EQ had such a thriving gaming poplace that wasn't always pushing the boundaries of the content.

I agree that something like EQ will never happen again, or at least until a new medium (say totally immersive gaming/ VR) arrives. The other factor is the glut of MMGs that now exist, all of them tapping into a section of the genre and preventing another super-MMG emerging.

I personally have reservations about the new expansion as well. Expansions to me always represent a devaluation of older content. The stuff you have just worked for becomes trivial compared to the new stuff that the expansion offers and the new stuff makes older content trivial. If they can avoid falling into that trap then WoW will have a future interest for me past the expanasion release.

I've reached the conclusion that you only tend to be disappointed if you approach a new mmorpg with the years of play people got out of EQ1 in mind.

If you approach it as a 35 game that will give you three to six months great fun then anything else is a bonus.

When you describe stuff it always sounds good Nym, so I've signed up Now :p

If Vanguard does capture what EQ1 had in the earlier days it will be a blast, my good memories of EQ stop some time in Velious.
