Now that SWG is offically pants (not chasing after my copy from stat + 1 cos ive only got a amd 800 512meg geforce 4 it might work but prob wont and 2 it looks pants),Are there any other mmorpgs gona make it out this year.WoW wont nor will Dragon most others that say 2003 dont look like making it EQ2 no chance, for all these mmorpgs that got chanceld like UO2 (worse descision EA have manged to make and they make plenty).UO2 could have made loads of money simply on the fact there so little competition ie DaoC which i still dont rate made loads of money cos everything else either got canceld or delayed or rushed out faster than DaoC was AO AC2.They all seem to be listening to the money men and trying to grab the console market casual gamer etc ie games with no content just pretty grafixs and empty promises, and not looking at the market thats alrdy there look how many people bought DaoC a decent game wouldent need to create new customers from people whove never played these games before.

They all seem to be tripping over each other so busy trying to promise ambitious features to out do the countless other promised mmorpgs(that get cancelled anyway),that they dont get on with giving content and things to rather just spend money and time on features that might not work(and havent).I dont hold much hope for EQ2 which seems to be going the Doom route and trying to show off how many poligons its got etc, they would have been better off aiming for EQ 1/2 just fixing the pobs with EQ a UO1/2 and a AC1/2 which would have been 3 times better than AC2

Personally im waiting for WoW which dosent seem to have promised a lot weve not seen before,so it should let them get on with making a decent game to PLAY instead of x size of world x number of players x pointless facilal adjustments x number of pointless unbalced classes etc etc .Only trouble is its Blizzard with there not releasing it till its rdy aproach (if Mythic did that Daoc wouldent be out till next year :) ) so well have to wait ages

Is it me or have we gone backwards with MMORPGS instead of in the 2nd genration

Waiting on next year and then 2005.

Middle earth, Dragon Empires, WoW. EQ2 - next year the market will be flooded and only the strong will gain the client base i reckon.

Middle Earth for the Genre
EQ2 for the existing EQ market place - then again AC2 didnt for AC1 guess it depends how different it is.
WoW - cos well people are waiting for it.

I really want to play Dragon Empires but i think its going to have tough competition.

2005 - Dungeons and Dragons .. if this does well it will steal a huge amount of market share i think. NwN promised this but failed to deliver.... time will tell...

Well you could try Asherons Call.
It seems a hell of a lot of players have gone back to it since some guy made an add on that makes it look like AC2 but without the crap game play.

there is something about it onhere

and as for WoW I wouldn't hold your breath seeing as 3 of there key dev's left and there co founder.link here

I'm still very interested in trying Shadowbane, but I'm still worried about the way things are going there.

I agree with Jett re: SWG. Its certainly turned out a lot more interesting than I initially thought in beta and it should only get better.

When Middle Earth is released I'll never play another MMG again other than that though. :)

I think most of the new MMG's have taken a slight step to the side rather than gone backwards. Camelot was a step above EQ in many ways but not so good in other areas. AC2 was trying to appeal to the mass market so again it was different rather than behind. SWG imho is the first true 2nd generation. The character progression and skill system alone is way ahead of the rest. Then you have the attention to detail like typing "cya" to say goodbye to someone and your character waves without you doing anything other than typing "cya". I think everyone playing it is having fun so far.

SWG is a buggy pile of ****e, but I like it anyway :)

UO was the same when I originally started playing. I worked around the bugs then and I can work around the bugs now... well most of them :)

I don't think I could really go back to a fantasy genre game. I'm a bit sick of swords and wizards and whatnot. Middle Earth Online looks interesting as does WoW but I'm not awaiting anything else with the same anticipation I had for SWG and EVE.

Potatoe?
Must say i'm loving SWG, after the Beta i was very reluctent to buy it, the Beta just didn't get me hooked like it should have, but now i'm playing the Release (even though its really the BETA) I'm loving it, reminds me of UO, I'm not even doing much fighting and loving it, but i think thats why. In the other MMGS (bar UO) you had to fight to progress in this all i do is sell stuff and its great :)

Dead Again, I need a Rez
Im intrested in how Warhammer online turns out, they have some interesting ideas, with the more gritty side of online gaming It has a hugh fantasy base to work on too

Also looking forward to Dragon Empires.

Forget EQ2 i hated the original even though it got my hooked for a fuw months.
WoW er ok remeber how long WC3 was in development and with blizzards rep for getting there games perfect i dont expect this for a fuw years, but when it comes out it will be good i think

As for middle earth online, its being developed by Turbine, so i hope its not going to be AC3 with middle earth slapped on

Stupid is as stupid does
To be fair to Turbine, AC1 was a good game, let down by the fact it was far, far too easy to hack. I had many a happy hour playing with Git on Darktide, and before that on Frostfell with other CUK bods.

Never played AC2 so can't comment on that, it didn't appeal as it had been "dumbed down".

Doggin' at a spot near you
Darts on the right track with Warhammer Online , should be fantastic !

Middle earth online I is good ,but I have a bad feeling about it
