B1942 Problems

Lo folks,

On my pooter at home (1GHz T-Bird, GeForce4, 1Gb RAM, SB Audigy), B1942 runs pretty well on game that I set up and run by myself. When I connect to the net games, tho, it runs like an absolute ****.

With ADSL just installed I'd kinda hoped that this wouldn't happen, but I can't think of any other reason why it'd run like such a ****.

Any ideas?

are you joining the big name servers like blueyonder,Barrysworld etc or ones called 'Fast Server, ADSL Only g0g0g0g0' and the like.

The proper dedicated servers are always mobbed and the others are just ch1mps trying to run a server on a retro rig like yours :grin:

Thats why we trying to run our own, and if you werent such an anti-social **** then you would have joined Rochs, Merly is a **** server or Elarions Sheepworld and found that they are quite playable..

I've got a 1.4Ghz Athlon, GeForce 2, 256MB ram, ADSL and it plays fine on games I set up meself too..

But for multiplayer I've got it set to Lowest video settings, lowest sound quality etc and its a hell of a lot better playably. Only doesn't look as good ;)

Flying is DEAD easy. although you can cock it up bigtime sometimes with a nasty lag spike or a badly times turn once you're in the air you should be fine.
Here's Merlys guide to flying a plane:

Starting with the Japs,
Jump in either plane(E)
Hit F10(external view)
Hold your finger down on W at all times while flying a plane
as you get near the end of the carrier press and hold the down arrow till you take off.
then it's just a case of learning with the mouse cause keyboard is **** and you can make better (and quicker) turns with the mouse.
Remember to keep your finger on "W" at all times though thats your throttle, if you take your finger off that for too long your engine will stall.
Fly over to the american airbase and if you are quick enough you should be able to blow the yank gits up before they even get to their planes.
Failing that, fly to a remote capture post, hit E again (ejects you from the plane) press 9 (parachute) and then procede to capture the flagpost.

If you're going to make a habit of being a pilot, get yourself a decent joystick. On the open servers, it makes a huge difference - you can always tell those with and without.
