Best kb ever for FFXI

Had this for a while and it is just perfect for FFXI. Overclockers also have it. The main thing is it has a bank of 18 programmeable macro keys off to the left; also has 3 buttons at the top to change the 18 keys to another set, giving 54 total.

You can set them to do pretty much anything in the game but simply setting them to do ctrl 1-10 and alt 1-10 makes a massive difference to gameplay.

Yeah, and what's even better apparently you don't get the usual keyboard lag when executing macros from that- it's as fast as a PS2 pad because you're just hitting one key and PC doesn't take that extra 0.1 second to think that "wait... she just pressed CTRL and 2... oh.. I need to put those two together..." or something. When Illu tried Jormungand the only BLM that consistently stunned the blizzaga IIIs (the bastard fast casts those and you split second reactions to stop them) was using one of those. I play on Keyboard and am seriously thinking of putting that on my Xmas list. :)

I know one birthday coming up but it's for this one guy that scorns keyboards and swears by the PS2 controller. He wouldn't want a fancy keyboard, even if he had one he'd still shout at me for changing his config from PS2 controller to keyboard.

Flight m8 me and Vig's need help! Just sent Sinoc a PM asking a few questions but figured I'd start it here also.

Since Vig and I installed ours, following the initial install we were very impressed and were able to look at the cool display giving us CPU usage info and other random stuff. However since we turned off our PC's and logged on in the morning we have been unable to get anything but the 'Logitech' logo on the display. And thus been unable to set any macros or make it do anything but light up basically :(. Yes we have the latest drivers (came with it) but not about to resort to unpluging and redetecting the Keyboard everyday as I reckon that may resolve it on a temp basis from what I've read on the G15 forums. What we doing wrong? and what .exe do you point the FFXI profiler at we have tried polboot.exe so far without any joy, but I think that maybe due to the above issue and need to fix that 1st.

We use the windower so maybe we need to point it at that .exe to activate the FFXI profile?

Please help (anyone) as its a bit frustrating having the hardware to do cool stuff but not have it working, Just wish I'd had more time this weekend to actually look into it more :(

Silly question.....but have you checked that you haven't enabled the manual display option only?

Yep just checked that and the default list of 6 things are still there and all ticked to activate. And its set to Auto switch between them every 10 secs using Klever-VU :(

Ok I've just removed the software and re-installed it. Keyboard all works 100% till I reboot and then it goes back to being just a nice glowy keyboard with a Logitech logo (Just what I ordered prolly). If I unplug the keyboard from the USB and put it back in it detects the keyboard again and all starts working again. Now you could say its something to do with USB drivers, but why does it do exactly the same on Vig's PC which is a different build to mine?

Man I don't have time for this crap I just wanna use the damn thing!! preferably without putting my back out crawling on the floor unplugging and plugging it in each time I boot my PC :(

Hmmm after fiddling for a few hours last nite I think its some conflict with USB drivers that we must have installed on both pc's. Its as if the Keyboard is not installed/registered within Windows properly on a reboot and thus only the basic keyboard functions seem to work. My pc is long overdue a rebuild so will probably try that this weekend and see if that helps. Mighty frustrating tho :(
