I found I really liked this game .. Despite what all of you nasty chimps in DAoC Said.
I really reccomend this game to anyone who likes games what take LOTS of time and effort, and can appreciate good comedy in a game.

The only flaw is that often the controls/view lack ease but it is easy to get used to it.

We used to have a black and white forum here, a lot of people bought the game as soon as it came out.

It was interesting for a short amount of time and then people got bored of it for various reasons.

bleh, i got bored of that game within about 2-3 days, its too clever for its own good... all you do is just watch it do stuff, not really fun at all

especially when the creature doesn't do what u want it to

It was just stupid bugs that annoyed me like if you slapped your creature when it did a poo then it would never crap for the rest of its life, and this was essential for one of the quests on level 2.

Then there was the thing where if you expanded your influence into an enemy village you could take EVERYTHING out of their stockpile.

Also, two whole levels as a tutorial was a bit frustrating, and the AI for villages wasn't really up to much...half the time they were crying "Need more Food" at me when they had a load of fields ripe with corn for harvest that had been sitting there for 2 hours!! When I got so frustrated with their whining and I slapped them about a bit all I was rewarded with was "Need more Mercy". I felt more like a servant than a God.

Sorry, didn't get a chance to rant at it first time round :)

Reminds me of The Sims by those descriptions, few of my favourites in that are...

Going to toilet - 27 minutes
Days off work - Never
Having a bath - 45 minutes
Deciding not to lock the door while in the bath - 1 minute
Someone walking in on you while in the bath and you standing up explaining where you are and what you are doing ( still nud ) - 5 minutes

I mean i thought as a disciplined army solider i could leave him going for a couple of days while i went and made a sandwhich, on return to find him watering the flowers outside in his pyjamas at 3 in the morning :)

Black and White was a perfect example of concept over execution. You could see all the very cool things they'd done, you could marvel over the clever little touches and the groundbreaking and genre-defying concepts but it wasn't actually all that much fun to play.
I bought it the day it was released, rushed home installed it and slavered over all the cool stuff in the manual and within four hours I was back to playing D2 who's entire concept can be summed up as see it, hit it, become uber.

Sad but true, I'll certainly be receptive to other stuff that Lionhead churn out if only because I feel that they deserve 10 out of 10 for effort.

Yes, some of the AI is sort of crappy, but I REALLY enjoy it :)
I know most of you dont and ill make you think im wierd even more by saying - Harhar I bought the addon yesterday!!

Pretty much. and you get a little egg what hatches into a wee chicken what follows ur pet and copys it, Ive got mine terrorising villages and leveling houses
