Richard LeDoon - A once rich man fallen on harder times, now in his late 50's he has taken to tutoring young children in the piano, he teaches them on the grand piano in his residence, the only item which he has from the old family estate.

He does not embrace modern science and given the chance would destroy all radio's he came into contact with. Infact recently he withdrew from a dance marathon when it became clear, some of the music would be supplied by a radio to allow the pianist a rest. The only real exception to modern science was that of the Automobile, a contraption which despite a desire to hate it he could not shake his facination with it.

Of late he has been trying to learn Mahjongg with little success but felt the main thing he liked was not the game, but the fact the pieces reminded him of the piano.

Good point, how does:

Continuing his studies into Mahjongg he taken to carrying round some pieces always in his pocket, each morning grabbing a few different pieces and nursing and fingering them throught the day. As he walks along the sidewalk suddenly he stops and turns around, a few paces later he stops again, cups the pieces and turns around, his eyes drawn to a section of wall. Bringing the pieces now out of his pocket he stares at the wall, then at the pieces, then finally to the wall, his jaw slightly dropping. The 3 symbols on the pieces he holds are drawn clearly on the wall, each one as large as his head, yet no-one else appears to have noticed them or be paying them any attention. Moving closer he looks down the small alley and again up at the symbols, now leaning back on the opposite wall, his eyes wide.

Consider that a good "drag" point to get him involved or if it'll be easier I'll just add in a little more of what happens down the alley :)

Alex 'Deadman' Shanks - Ex-army, Field Medic, 3rd Infantry division (insert some vaguely good sounding squad name here when i think of one :p)

Born in 1895, Alex was 19 when WW1 broke out, but due to America's policy of neutrality didnt get involved until 1917. In this time, he had done training as a Field Medic with the US army.
He got his nickname 'Deadman' after being mistaken for a corpse following the shelling a trench he had been in. He woke from being unconcious in a body bag, shortly before it was to be loaded onto a plane to be returned to america. He still has occasional nightmares about what would have happened if he'd awoken 30minutes later, after the place had taken off.
Following the war, he left the Armed Services, and has been using his medical knowledge to help out in homeless shelters, free clinics, etc (i assume those sort of things existed in the 20s?). He still intends to rejoin the army some day, since he cant survive off what he's got forever, and another year in the army would pay for several more years helping people on the streets. He loves healing people, and is devoting his life to it.

(in terms of skills, i guess he'll have some medical, a bit of surgical, and some standard military stuff like driving and shooting. He might have also picked up some foreign language skills from being in france during the war. oh, and of course the standard smattering of skills characters seem to pick up in cthulhu :p. i guess he might have picked up some contacts in gangs or whatever, whilst fixing up people who'd got themselves shot in the city?)

that sound ok?

Frank Hancock - Police Detective

Frank Hancock was born in Falcon Point MA but moved to Boston to attend College. Although his historical studies had always ear marked him for a place on some institutions teaching faculty his path took a huge turn when his room mate was murdered in his final year.

The killer was never found but the fuse had been lit and once he had completed his degree course Frank decided that he would turn to a life in law enforcement to try and stop innocents losing their lives.

He is currently working in Boston MA in the BPD.

Due to his family (direct descendant of John Hancock who signed the Declaration of Independence and was a prominent member of the St Andrews Lodge in Boston) he has always been around members of the Masonic Order.

He was initiated into the order 3 years ago and to date he has not had an incident where there has been any conflict between his duties and his membership in the lodge.

What he has found is that certain door have opened that have enabled him to perform his duties with greater ease, as he has a group of people who he could potentially call upon from a vast array of specialities.

Luther Masters, Ex US Marines officer, professional thrill seeker and drunk.

Luther stands a strong man for his height, well built and muscled, not awfully unattractive to the opposite sex either. His rougher years have left him with surprisingly few permanent marks upon him that would not have been helped through his dress sense, even outside of active duty he will often be seen wearing a military long coat and a sturdy suit beneath it, as powerful as he is Luther is rarely unarmed and is often found to be carrying his large bowie knife and sometimes his old service pistol, a colt M1911, usually by police officers trying to prevent a brawl once every couple of months, the weapons are at least licensed.

Luther's small but powerful build is augmented through a penchance for cowboy hats, perhaps from his upbringing but he will often be on active service sporting either a jungle BDM cap or even a bush hat, the latter being his favourite, his typically Texan bristly mustache flouting out from beneath it and a thick wiry but well trimmed head of hair.

A not at all unimpressive man to see entering a room Luther can certainly make his presence known when he needs to.

The Masters family were typical Texans, they had the life of cowboys and every child was able to ride an animal well by the age of eight and could rope cattle with a certain ability just a few years later. The people who bear the name Masters are well respected in Austin's more outlying areas but suffer from a dying lifestyle threatening the way of life that they love.

Luther's mother and father also gave the man a younger brother and sister, the brother 3 years younger (David) and the sister almost 10 years younger (Evelyn). Mr James Masters and Mrs Amber Masters (Formerly Miss Amber Godwin) were forced into a decision when Luther had turned 19 years of age to either continue farming in the way that the family had done for all the time that anyone could remember and loose everything they had or move into the tourism. The decision seemed simple to them and they readily made it moving into giving people, especially corporate clients, a means of reliving the past and learning almost forgotten skills. The idea did not sit well with Luther, he felt that they had betrayed what he had come to love all his life and instead decided to seek his worth in the world. Some six weeks later he entered training as a colonial marine, later becoming an armourer and advancing through training to become a Lieutenant after passing out of the venerable west-point military academy some short distance from New York.

For all their disagreements Luther never lost touch with his family and often takes time to talk with his sister and brother in particular whom remain to help his parents run the new found and profitable enterprise that they now have.

In all the history of the Masters family they have never been better off or had better future prospects than they now have, what that cost Luther was the way of life he wanted and loved, even though he will someday inherit all of this wealth he has already decided to simply forward it to his brother and sister who were always less attached to the old western life than he was. Now Luther has no intention of becoming the further sire of his family, or anything else for that matter. To his mind he will defend those he loves, unfortunately that now includes the marine core.

Yes, Luther is bitter, and can often be seen by himself gathering his thoughts, his overly aggressive appearance tends to keep most persons away from him anyway, especially when coupled with his gravelly Texan accent and ability to swear in ever more creative manners around everyone of equal or lesser rank, in other words everyone without five gold stars, this attitude has earned him a certain amount of dislike from superior officers.

Luther is man who likes his drink and his women, he is also very fond of his cigars and will drink, cavort and misbehave with all those he serves with, he treats it as a perk of the job but only pines for the chance of some action, in all his years of training he considers himself, somewhat arrogantly perhaps, to be one the best there is and can readily perform all manner of duties with almost any small arm, one of his all time passions. It is not unknown for him to treat a weapon with more respect and care than himself.

Gruff and to the point Luther's underlying with and intelligence is thinly veiled behind his rugged and practical mannerisms that separated him from other officers, much as with any commissioned serviceman. The core was his life and he left the service around a wound he received in a skirmish during the summer of November 15th 1918 from German SS deserters who refused to believe that they had lost some time ago, Luther detested having to hunt down a defeated enemy and even more detested that they could not see the logic in their situation. Needless to say the only surviving SS men were put to death by firing squad under martial law, Luther now sports a large scar across his left rib cage from grenade fragments and a smaller bullet wound on his right thigh. The skirmish took place amongst a secluded area of the famous black forest and will forever remain within Luther's bitter memory.

Luther served throughout what would become known as the great war and perhaps lost a few pieces of himself along the way, from trench to trench and skirmish to battle, he served his country well and was commended for his conduct under fire many times. He commanded the respect of his men as he was always the first man onto the field of battle, unfortunately a couple of wounds prevented him being the last off but he won the respect of those under his command time and again. In truth he simply was not afraid to die after some time spent in the killing fields of France, he simply did not care about himself anymore and was placing a higher value upon those he commanded, only he ever understood this but throughout the war he developed past this to become an extremely capable officer.

At present Luther drinks and smokes a lot while deciding in which manner to develop his life, he spent some time recovering from his wounds and eventually led a small expedition through the rocky mountains for some rich, and very fat, English gentry, he found the experience distasteful and pines for a more adventurous life where he can meet new challenges and most of all the thrill of combat.

[O.O.C.] Z could you please gen me his stats as I don't have my Cthulu stuff with me, also please drop in the appropriate skills for him here and there. If you are not too happy about the gun and such they can always be removed. Give me a shout if you have any thoughts or queries.

Jacques Lecat, University Lecturer, Researcher

Jacques Lecat, born 1897, Jacques was born in the United States an only child, his father a French Diplomat, his mother the daughter of a Local industrialist.

Although Jacques rarely saw his Father or Mother while growing up he often used to hide at the top of the stairs when his parents entertained at home, from that his love of languages developed. Speaking both French and English fluently and without accent at a very young age, it was not until the death of his mother when he was 10 did he set foot in France.

His father, buried himself in his work thousands of miles away while Jacques grew up at boarding school in Paris. With only fleeting meetings with his father during the holidays, no living relatives from his fathers family in France and with little bar the language in common with his fellow students, Jacques studied hard, excelling in History and Languages but just scraping acceptable passes in all other subjects. Jacques also fostered a keen dislike for track and field when forced to compete outside the classroom with one notable exception, Fencing. Whether it was the precision of form, the fact that he could hide behind the mask or that it was the only way Jacques could get back at his fellow pupils for continuing to treat him as an outsider, fencing was his only other love.

When he did have time for himself, it was spend roaming the Museums, churches and finally finding home, and with rare help from his father, access to the Bibliothque Nationale, from that point on Jacques knew what he wanted to do.

At 16, the deaths of both his father, and his maternal grandfather meant that Jacques would be comfortable for the rest of his life. Having barely remembered his grandfather, and his father literally and figuratively a distant figure for him, Jacques was alone.

Forced to return to the US, apparently to deal with both his fathers and grandfathers estates, the outbreak of the Great War sealed Jacques fate. With the Lawyers on his mothers side recommending that he say in the US to look after his own interests, and his fathers faithful solicitor in France forbidding his return, Jacques remained in the US and eventually entered University reading Ancient History. The lawyers on both sides of the Atlantic having conspired to keep Jacques well clear of the war faithfully following the instructions from his deceased father although it was not until after the war that he was told this.

While he did his degree in the US, he did his doctorate at Oxford after the war. A careful and serious student, his dedication to his work constantly impressed both his peers and his Professors, a rising star in the field Jacques was invovled in considerable fieldwork which resulted in no trouble when looking for a research and lecturing position despite his age. Jacques received offers from Universities in the UK and France however Jacques instead took a Lecturing and Research position in the US at the University of Massachusetts much to the suprise and confusion of many.

Physical Description:

Jacques is 5,10, medium build, lithe with light brown coloured hair, youthful and clean shaven. He wears thin wire framed glasses for everyday use being short sighted, he does not need glasses to read.

Jacques suits are modern and fashionable with thin long collars, waistcoated and single breasted. The trousers are baggy. His clothing is the only outward sign that he is well off. Jacques Cycles to work, owns a modest house close to the Campus. Jacques often blends in with his students in appearance however his serious and withdrawn demeanor set him apart. It is only when teaching that the passion for his work shines through.
