ClanUK FFXI Linkshell general information~

I'm posting this here as not everyone browses forums outside FFXI section, and this is what all new joiners should read and understand.

If this is your first visit to the forums, you need to register as a user. After you've registered let your sponsor/any full member know so they can send a private message to the forum admins to authorise your account. You can not post until your account has been authorised. Receiving the automated email does NOT mean that an admin has authorised your account, an administrator has to activate it individually.

General ClanUK rules as posted by Rochdale:

This is a quick rundown on what ClanUK is for those that might be interested in joining.

ClanUK was formed in 1997 and we have been in just about every game going although we tend to specialise in MMORPGs. We want to have fun in whatever games we play and be surrounded by like minded people.

We are anti-cheat and anti-grief. While consensual PvP is great we don't PK people in those games that allow non consensual PvP, of course we're always happy to defend ourselves

ClanUK has an excellent reputation in the games we play and we expect members to uphold this reputation. Someone once said "If you meet a ClanUK player you will know them . . . they are polite, honest, and totally trustworthy.", this should give you an idea of what we expect.

A ClanUK member is expected to treat other members with the proper respect both ingame and on the forums.

To Join ClanUK in whatever game you play will require you to complete a trial period which is usually either one or two months depending on the game. After the trial there will be a vote by those that have gamed with you and if you pass you will be a full member. Full members of ClanUK can join the guild in any game without needing to retrial.

If you have any questions any current member should be able to answer them, or you can email [email protected].

How this applies to ClanUK Linkshell should be self-explanatory. Be polite to others and put their needs before your own greed. Always remember everyone plays the game for fun.

Anything that breaks the Playonline/FFXI ToS (Terms of Service agreement) will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:
-RMT- Real Money Trade, i.e. buying and selling gil for real currency. Should be your pride as a gamer to have worked for what your character has.
-Botting- Using 3rd party programs to perform in-game functions such as fishing.
-MPK- Mob Player Killing, using aggressive monsters to kill other players.
-KSing- Kill Stealing, exploiting a well-known game glitch to claim a monster another player is fighting. While not technically against ToS (since Square-Enix isn't acknowledging the glitch), it's one of the worst crimes against common courtesy. Worse than eating with your elbows on the table.
Anyone found to be maliciously breaking the ToS will immediately be kicked from the linkshell. Mistakes are sometimes made and in those cases everything possible should be done to rectify the situation. Full set of rules and policies can be found here:
https://secure.playonline.com/supportus/index03.html

ClanUK has a Teamspeak server all clan members can use. You can download the program at www.goteamspeak.com and contact Merly if you wish to be added to the server list and given password (full members can help you sort this out as well). Teamspeak server information should be treated as confidential and not passed on to anyone outside ClanUK.

Errm... would you consider Windower to be "maliciously breaking the ToS"?

If so, I'll delete it ASAP.

Interesting question Burg, and something we sort of covered a while ago in another thread around here, I believe everyone agreed that tools like Windower and Fraps are ok as they are not cheating in any way... so I think you're ok. ;)

Yes, was in this thread in the full member section where was basically said that windower, fraps, etc. that in no way affect the gameplay to other players are ok from the ClanUK standpoint. Botting on the other hand would give you an unfair advantage over other players who actually put the work into their gameplay and is as such considered cheating. :)
