jsut fired up aprpentice, got my random deck, started to organise it into some kind of playability..... but it doesn;t seem to save the state of your main / side deck between plays, without manual editing of the .DEC file...or have i missed something?

Should be able to edit it in the deck editor or trade window, just need to make sure once it is edited you save it (it does have a tendancy to save it as a .txt sometimes) in .DEC format. Although you can open .txt files as a deck I've also found

You joining the ladder then Chick ?

Got my computer fixed, so I'll download Apprentice today later on (busy until half 7 or so). I'll also write up how to get MWS working, as it's definitely a much better client :p

ok I'm up for it. Downloaded the client, I don't have voice comms on my machine though. PM me for a friendly as it's ages since I last played.

was ahving a total mare with apprentice - the lack of easy card info / descriptions made re-learnign deck contents rather tricky.

found This info on MWS and links to a full card DB. Hope someone finds it usefull.

right click on a card to see it's description. And I was assuming the deck editor showed you the full magic card library, it certainly let me find alot of the old cards I remembered.

Edit : Aye I'd seen that link, that didn't seem to go into the installation of it did it ? i thought I'd followed them, but maybe I hadn't will give them a spin, but still think Apprentice is much easier to start off with, once Entropy posts up install guide I'll give it a spin and if people want we can use that one. But with Apprentice being so easy to install and use it seems a better start place ?

i didnt like apprentice from the brief try i gave it the other day... the lack of card descriptions means you cant quickly see whats what (having to click through all 170 cards in the library is rather annoing).
I also dont like the fact i'll have to go for a mixed colour deck :p but i guess i can live with that...

MTG Online you have to pay for and then pay to get extra decks or boosters and stuff like that.

If you want a single colour deck though go into the deck editor, sideboard the cards you don't want and move the cards you do want from your sideboard into your play hand and your away.

I'm not sure how the MTG one works maybe more like MWS where there is a grid of the cards with the card/type/description etc on it ?

Apprentice = totally free which is an advantage to avoid it getting to he who pays more wins more situation.

If people want other clients though now is the time to try and work out one we can all use (preferably which doesn't cost money). And I prefer the open-ness of apprentice compared to the wizards paying one.

Edit - Can people confirm if they are joining the ladder, I think I've added the right people, but don't know.

Shove me down m8y..and to clarify the MTG client and a basic deck is free. The expansions are extra ranging from $2.99 - $12.99.

But if you just want a random standard deck then you can play in the MTG room for free. However you cannot add to it without paying a sign up fee of $9.99 (but you do get a voucher for $9.99 to buy more cards when you do join.

Yes but in some games with a monthly fee you can actually buy weapons and armour and all sorts of stuff but you don't actually get them either! ;)

Sounds ridiculous to me, it'll never catch on. :p

After fiddling around with MWS, it's fairly good; is also free.
The deck editor's rather confusing and clumsy, but i have to admit the ability to download card images (takes up a lot of space though :p) is fairly funky, though a bit fiddley to do. Slightly buggier than apprentice though.
Anyway, got both now, don't mind using either.

If anyone else needs spoon feeding on how to use MWS, message me on MSN. Didn't take more than a couple of hours to get Tom up to date.

I just can't understand the complication since I'm inept at this kind of thing. Anyway, here is the link to follow if you want to do it yourself:

aye, had a bit of a play around with both and I am liking mws over apprentice.

Would be good if someone could get the images, zip them and host them as one d/l the proggies for it seem a bit unreliable.
