CUK GvG Team - your character preference

Just wondering what people would like to play as a character.
You will get better item mods playing a PvP character (in most cases).
I don't expect we'll have a very balanced team to begin with.

I can potentially play any build, as I have all skills unlocked.
My preferences however are:-
a) Ra/Me or Ra/Mo (which I always imagined would be a flag runner, but hey that's a bit advanced right now) but he's basically a bastard :)
b) Mo/Ne - God! this is hard to play! but someone's got to do it

You do get a number of skills for each class as a PvP character even if you haven't played them as a PvE character.

Basic ideas are fine at this stage.
If anyone fancies warrior for example, I could advise why Wa/E might be a good idea.

If we end up with 4 rangers, then it becomes a ranger spike team. etc.

That said, we should take the kick-about GvG offer at face value and take the opportunity to try different builds as a learning exercise (over the weeks). EG one team plays IWAY, the other defends against it etc.

Just some general thoughts on who wants to play roughly what at this stage, so we can come up with a build.

We will blow goats to begin with, but that's hardly the issue at this stage.
You have to suck it up and learn. If I had a super ego, I'd be mortified by my PvP monking, but I'd rather get better at it. You get the idea.

As you know, I play a Ra/Ne in PvE, but have also started a Ele in pre-searing. Supposed I'd best stick to what I'm familiar with.

Stupid question - when you play GvG, do you use your PvE character, or do you start a new PvP?

It could be either.

If you have been playing for ages, and have farmed for the 'best' green items from Sorrows Furnace then a PvE character may have a very very slight edge. And you could show off your fancy FoW armour if you have it.

In all other circumstances, rolling a PvP character is always better.

My PvP monk for example was able to put a maxxed wrap of enchanting on her staff straight away. That would take forever to find normally in PvP (maxxed that is) or would cost seriously silly money. If you have found a weapon mod of that type in PvE (unlocked now for PvP), then your PvP character can have it with max mods.

A PvP character gets the best defensive armour available straight away, even if your PvE character has not found it yet.

Rolling the PvP char takes a few minutes, which is a pain if you have only the one. The important thing is to write your choices down so you can remember them next time.

Oh yes and equip 2 weapon slots if you will need them.

So the simple answer is PvP character is better for the vast majority of us.

I was thinking of maybe rolling a Me/Mo or even a Me/N (Used to the Mesmer side of things so go with what U know & add something to it :) )

I think this was meant to go in this thread ;)

Mesmers rock in PvP. Me/N is popular too.

I once even saw (observing a tournament match) a Me/Ne casting ONLY Ne spells! A disguised necro?!!!

From my experiences so far, it is difficult for monks to remove their own conditions/hexes. There are usually two or three monks in a GvG team though. Find an isolated one and hex them and it gets painful!

If there are two monks, 'covering hexes' are sometimes used against them.
I think this works along the lines of cast a less powerful hex (the cover) and then the powerful one. Monk hex removal will remove the cover one first, while the real one is still hurting. Ouch. Bit advanced for us though ;)
