The mid seventies line-up of Pace, Lord and Blackmore with Bass player Glenn Hughes and David Coverdale doing the vocals. Coverdale had a life before Whitesnake , if you want to check out how good he was get hold of his second solo album post Purple " Northwinds".

See if you can find The Who's debut on US TV on some chatshow or something. Where Moon loaded his drumkit with more 'explosives' than normal and nearly blew the band up, I've not been able to find it - but it sounds like fun :)

Will probably have been the Jonny Carson show I would have thought - he liked to have all the new pop stars on.
