did you ever play Defence of the Ancients on warcraft 3? cause its basically that.
you select a hero (demigod), and are basically a champion for your side. lots of little minion creatures spawn and fight each other, your job is to support your minions, kill the enemy minions, destroy the enemy heros, and destroy their base. you get gold and experience. experience levels you up, gold lets you buy items or upgrade your base.
Its an RPG, if you dont mind that your stats are reset every game.
Its a strategy game where you only control one unit (unless you play a 'general' class rather than an 'assasin' class - generals get about half a dozen super-minions to control as well, but the assassins are better individual fighters.).
Its also a good example of how bad GPG are at doing network code, unfortunately... though its got a lot better in the last few weeks.
