Diablo 3 possibly not out this year.

I wonder how many WOW subscribers would take time out to play D3?

Maybe WOW has to be dead, exhumed, blessed, broken into 1000 pieces and scattered to the 4 quarters of the earth before D3 is released because there might, just might be a crossover interest in the two games :(

This can easily be a marketing ploy for Blizzard while waiting for Bioware/lucasart SW:TOR. Blizzard literally waited all year last year while SW:TOR was hinted for a september release and it never happened, so Blizzard had to release Cata in December.
As evil as Blizzard are with their marketing moves it is the only thing up their sleeves which can effect the launch of SW:TOR and we already know Dragon Age 2 is out in March. I suspect Blizzard will use D3 as ammunition against its rivals.
Shame it become gaming politics rather than just trying to please it genuine fans.

You have made wrong assumptions there. Blizzard's release schedule has nothing to do with when other companies release their titles. If a game is ready to come out, it'll come out. If it isn't ready, it will be given the time to be developed further and brought up to the Blizzard quality that people know and expect.

D3 will not be an exception; if the game is ready, it'll be released. If it's not, it'll be given additional time. It's for this reason that Blizzard do not announce release dates. When it's stated that "it'll be released when it's ready" this is not merely trying to be clever or trying to whip the fanboys into a social media frenzy; it's exactly that - it'll be out when it's ready. Ghost is a great example of a title that simply wasn't what players would have expected from a Blizzard game, so it was shelved (even after E3 appearances and 2 or 3 years in the public eye).

People stating that Blizzard's marketing ploy is XYZ are off-target.
