E-Books collection

Hi all,

Got myself a refurb Kindle last month as a birthday treat. Well pleased with it, so I have been collecting e-books from various sources ever since. I've now got a collection of over a thousand sitting on it ready to get stuck into. Should last for ages even though I've already read several hundred of them hardcopy stylee. They are mainly fantasy and thrillers with some military stuff thrown in.

I don't have any spare discs atm but just to say that I'd be more than happy to 'lend the collection out' as it were, nudge nudge, wink wink, if anyone wanted to send me a disc or a usb drive and couple of quid to cover postage. Afraid I don't have a server I could stick the file up on. The collection weighs in at 1.4gig. Bung me a PM and I'll mail my address back.

There's 1052 mobi's. Of those 395 were changed from e-pubs and about another 100 from various other formats, 11 were pdf's.

along a similar vein, I've a collection of around 33,000 sci-fi/fantasy novels - if it's of use to you?

Google Docs keeps everything in the cloud, so no internet, no files
Dropbox keeps a copy on the cloud and on all machines connected to your dropbox account, so you can edit stuff offline and still access all the files, and when you are online it resyncs the documents

I like dropbox for the ease though, I just grab a folder and stick it in dropbox and by the time I get home it's already there on my home machine

Aparently if you use google chrome you can view your cached docs, but not edit.... not tried it though.

Google docs is really a free wordprocessor, spreadsheet and presentation program, you can store other file types there as well though and share them how you want. As G said you put stuff there then download at home, there's no auto sync that I know of yet.

Guys - just realised I've had other PM's re the dropbox. I'm so used to not checking them any more that they've completely passed me by. I'm building a new rig tomorrow and I have to go shopping for a day or two as I'm starting a new job on Monday. Give me a few days and I'll update the file with the new books I've found and msg you all back. Apologies again for my tardiness - my fault for being a billy-no-mates :)

I just won a kindle :bouncy2:

The day after I won a turkey too...

Any hints and tips etc people?

Also, as this is the season to be jolly and such I am happy to offer my services as an off-site DR facility for anybody that wishes to have peace of mind that their e-books will be safe. Really, it's no bother at all. :clown:

Cheers
