Email Spam

After reading Dareos post about that WoW scam I got thinking, Is there a way to not get spam sent to you? Apart from the obvious one, not giving your email to anyone.

Iv been using the same main email for years since starting up with NTL actually, and getting 10 emails per day i need to mark as junk does get annoying. Is this the normal amount of spam someone would get, iv never really thought about it before. I thought it was just one of those things that happens and you just put up with it.

my hotmail account (the one linked from this forum) probably gets loads of spam. its the one i've used for the last... 10 years at least.
but first, the hotmail filters seem reasonable at not letting some stuff reach the inbox.
then, since i use thunderbird to access it, that automatically filters out a lot more junk automatically too, i check that filter fairly often just in case, but i dont think its taken anything i actually want yet.
on top of that, i have filters running to send some spammish mails (such as gamespy ones, play.com ones, etc.) into another folder, that i look at, but doesnt pollute my main inbox.

i use cloudmark. Its not free but its around 98% accurate for me. i get about 50 or 60 spam mails a day.
