I'm such a numpty. (waits for inevitable comments........)

I have realised that I missed out on so much content in WoW by 'rushing' to level 80, via previous expansions. ('rushing' is relative, only 1 level 80 since WoW started and that's a DK, lol)

I think I did what many players have done, which is do as many quests in a zone, level up and move on to the next higher level zone ASAP.

While completeing Cataclysm quests I noticed that I was completeing every single quest in each new zone just to follow the excellent storylines and also see all there was to see. I was only moving to the next zone when the only quests left were raids or dungeons.

Once I completed cataclysm I was wondering what to do. My gear is crap and I am reluctant to commit to groupage, so Heroics and random dungeons were out. I did the new worgen starting area to see what it was like, been there done that. Level another toon....altitus strikes...which one?!?

So what I've decided to do is go after exalted for factions and complete as many storylines/quests for each faction & zone as I go.

So, I'm working backwards from Northrend and I have to say that I am having a blast :) Taking the time to read the quests properly and follow the storylines is making a huge difference to the game for me.

My only concern now is that as it is all so easy to complete with a level 85, that I might be better rolling a new toon and starting again. (If only DK's started at level 1 :( )

Decisons, decisions.....................:)

Just thought I'd share my epiphany on how the game has again sparked my interest.

They have changed SO much of the old lands mate, it is really worth levelling a new character.. I'm now 64 with a Worgen Warrior, levelling was a blast, especially with the phazing they have implemented in the old land quests, def alot of fun, and that was getting to 64 hardly touching kalimdor.. So in theory, I could level another all over again and level there.. :)

On a side note.. the only thing I found depressing, is that now at 60's you are ushered to outland at 58odd.. by the hero boards.. which is making me feel like "Ergh, Zangarmarsh.. I hate that zone" because nothing is new. but if you can get past that.. it's not bad i guess (will have to cope with northrend too however, which as my characters are all 75+ i've not long done the quests there :))

Yeah I noticed that the dwarf starting area has changed a bit, when I was pottering about with a shaman. Same mobs more or less, but the quest storylines are slanted now towards the deathwing shennanigans.

I have a warrior at 35, so tempted, but also considering starting again.

Wasn't overwhelmed by the worgen or their start area...seemed you leveled way too easy and it was over too soon. Not sure I like the worgen, but not tried their warrior yet...heard their battleshout is awesome?

My fav class is DK, as I like the 2H weapons, but no other class is close really unless I do fury warrior.

Yeah, its pretty good :) I'm a dual specced fury/arms warrior, primary fury, its pretty good, especially if you take skinning as your secondary tradeskill, they skin faster, plus you get the critical buff from skinning + Worgans +crit racial, yum :)

I agree with the Worgan starting area, plus it seemed like a bit of a waste of a nice capital city tbh :)
They have made warriors alot nicer also with the introduction of Victory Rush (Which basically allows you to self heal from the next mob you attack+ bloodthirst is pretty nice)

Isn't there a nerf bat heading for warriors and fury especially?

Lots of QQ on forums.

Tempted....very tempted...

I've not heard anything mate, but I tend to avoid the forums just because of all the whining :)

my understanding so far of said nerf is that they're taking 20% damage off heroic strike and cleave
(Cleave damage has been reduced by 20%.
Heroic Strike damage has been reduced by 20%.)

they are then taking a further amount of damage off HS and cleave, and moving it to raging blow and other things-
War Academy (15% damage buff) no longer buffs Heroic Strike or Cleave. It now buffs Mortal Strike, Raging Blow, Devastate, Victory Rush and Slam.

so all in all, heroic strike and cleave take a massive hit, probably around 30-35% damage off each of them.
in return we get 15% extra on raging blow and a few other things.

the reason for this change is that HS and Cleave are MEANT to be rage dumps, and instead of that they are currently our highest priority attacks :p

now, are the buffs to other things enough to offset the 30% nerf to HS? hard to say without a lot of theory crafting.
a lot of people are saying things like "omg, raging blow is 5% of my total damage done, and HS is 20%! so overall this is a 5% nerf!" (5%-6%, 20%-14%). but that assumes that you dont adjust your rotations at all with this change in mind - which frankly, would be stupid. if people dont adjust to changes like this, they deserve to do badly.

i'm fairly sure it is a nerf, but probably not a massive one. whats silly about it, imo, is that its a big nerf to a class that (as far as i'm aware) is not hideously overpowered in any new raids or whatever, like some classes (hai2u survival hunters and fire mages!), but simply because the players arnt using their abilities with quite the priority that the developers expected :/

ooooh the new VanCleef storyline is good.

Anyone done the vision bit? Was fun to watch.

I didn't realise that they had changed all the old starting areas this much, thank s for that tip Septy.
