For Chick: Update on the pvp front...

Talked to your mate yesterday. At first he declined the convo, but after sending him a mail with the info that you had sent me, he accepted after all.

Long story short: I am invited to participate in a few of their roams to see how I do and so we can get to know each other.

I have bought and fully kitted out 2 Cruisers. Got faction and T2 ammo and ferried one over to where we will do our roam on Tuesday. Jump clone created. Ready to rock. :)

Cost is a bit higher than I expected, will have to see how much I get back when the ships die.

Well because its true? You want a 5 paragraph explaination to tell you that flying expensive fit T1 ships is dumb for first time PvP?

The max I'd spend on a t1 cruiser fit would be around 10m most of which would be guns. Learn how not to lose ships first then start spending money on your fits.

Plate Rupture:
220mm ac II's: 1.5mil(x4)
1600mm RT plate: 3.6mil
oops there is your 10 mil budget.
launchers, resists, gyros + drones + Rigs on top of that.
Now, you could downgrade both the guns to cheap T1's and the plate to either a cheaper one, or a smaller one, but then you get mocked on the killmail.
Sure. T1 gyros, launchers, MWD, EANM, DC and Disruptor/Scram will save you some money, but at the cost of lower performance. Some bits you can easily drop. experience tells you which.

PvP ships are like Opera. It's something you do with money.

Should be around on Tuesday - eve-mail me your rally point, i'll see if I can join ya.

4x220mm ACIIs @1.2m each = 4.8m
1600mm RT plate = 3.2m
Those are at Dodixie prices and are almost certainly cheaper in Jita. So that's 8m for the most expensive parts of the fit, most everything else is chump change in comparison.

N-type resist mods, T1 MWD is fine on a T1 hull and tbh you may not be able to fit a T2 MWD anyway. T1 point, named EWAR. Maybe 10m is a bit on the low side but it's not that far off. Eve with rigs I can't see it going very far over 15m.

I would expect that if you turned up to a roaming gang in a t1 cruiser the expectations for your fit would be different from what they would be if you turned up in a HAC or a Hictor. Sure if I had a budget fit on a Vagabond I'd expect to get mocked for the killmail. On a Stabber? Not so much, the point of the fit is to be a largely disposable heavy tackler with some DPS.

Edit: And all that counts double if it's my very first time going out to shoot at other players.

I'm often torn Req. I agree with the theory, but in practice two things pull me up. PRice of T1 vs T2, and being a bit of a T2 Snob. Since that extra 5% performance gives you the edge sometimes. But as you rightly point out, learning in T1 is a whole different ball game.
(n-types are a bad example though - T2 EANM = 1mil. N-Type ~3mil ?)
Hey though, why Fly T2 when you can fly faction?
*fondly remembers flying around in officer fit Scimmies because they rule and were cheap - ish*

edit: Forgot about the MWD change - definitely fit T1 MWD's.

The EANM and DCU are pretty much the only resist mods that may as well be T2 due to the minimal cost difference. T2 hardeners are ~1.5m ish, N types are ~200k.
