Games Workshop - This company seriously needs to get a grip

People who know the company know that over the last few years, and in the light of regular profit warnings have chosen to raise their prices several times. Army boxes that used to be �50 3 years ago are now �75 pounds.

Their move to Apocalypse style battles, (Large scale, squadron based battles for the uninitiated) heralded the arrival of Army formations, "cheap" infantry ones going for �100 to �200 to more inclusive formations up to �700. Bearing in mind this are not necessary fieldable by them selves but represent components of a battleforce.

They have out done themselves now.

Ok, so i know this is marketing and i doubt they really expect to sell many if any of these, however.

Well they were never that cheap, but in the beginning they were THE best shop for roleplaying games, at least here in Newcastle. They had a small shop near the fire station on Pilgrim Street and it was an Alladins cave of goodies. They stocked everything from Mainstream D&D, Judges Guild, Runequest, T&T, C&S esoteric hexbased boardgames, Tarot cards, hard to find fantasy novels and tons of figures! Ral Partha, Chaosium and the tiny Traveller ones. White Dwarf covered every game going. Then they decided to only stock and cover their own games, the prices got hiked and they lost it, for me. I still bought a few blister packs of figures from them for various systems we were playing but eventually stopped going in altogether. Just looking through my gaming cupboard marvelling at how much of the old stuff was bought at GW. Happy Days!
