Geography 101

[Flight]

Had a couple of questions in a pm; I think a lot of folk will be interested so I'll answer here.


Mail I got was :
1. Are the Undead on a different continent to the rest of the Horde and, if so, is there an easy way to get across to see them?

2. Can you drop a trade skill once you've taken it and, if so, how?



To quickly deal with dropping a trade skill :
i) Press 'C' tbring up character screen;
ii) click on skills
iii) scroll down to trade skills and click on the one you want to drop;
iv) bottom of the menu the skill has a circle with a slash through it, next to it - click on this to drop that trade skill.


As far as map layouts are concerned, there are two continents. The West Continent (Kalimdor) has 3 of the evil races (less undead) based there, plus the Night Elves, to the NW. The east continent has the other good races based there, plus hte Undead aeras to the NW.

Note two thngs on those continent maps :

a) each area has an indication of the level of mobs you will find there;

b) they include the griffin and hippogryph flight paths. You need to walk to a location and talk to the guy there to be able to use it in future for flight.

There are also boats to get between the two continents marked on the maps. Booty Bay and Ratchet can be used by good and evil.

 

[Flight]

Oh there is a huge underground tram between Stormwind and Ironforge that is free (as are the boats - you pay a small amount for griffs/hippogryphs). Well worth starting a char just to go try it out and see it Those cities really are breath taking.

For alliance character, Ironforge and Stormwind have all the trainers you need. Night Elves will have to run via the wetlands to get there which is a pain if you are below level 18 (it can be done at level one but you will die a lot!!!).

 

[Flight]

Not sure that is true; used to have to go to darnassus for a Bow trainer, for example. May have changed as generic 'Weapon Master' trainers have been implemented that seem to train all the weapon types you qualify for, in Darnassus, Ironforge and Stormwind. You'll also have to venture out for the higher level trade skill trainers, some of whom are in very remote locations sometimes even on the opposing continent.

The answer to this one is easy. At level 9 the area you are hunting in as undead is about 1min walk from the blimp that takes you to the other continent and it's free. This takes you near the troll starting areas.
