November THIS year

Now I wasn't too fussed about this until I saw a clip today and it was clear you can drive the Top Gear test track :) Just hope they have the Chevrolet Lacetti and Cruze in GT5 for some comparissons :)

I'm only really buying it for the top gear test track, and I'm imagine that is going to be the most popular online leaderboard by far

I heard it is a unlock, meaning you have to complete so much of the game to access it. That may have changed as that was ages ago.

In which case I'll just get some friends over with some beer and we can play until it gets unlocked, we already have a leaderboard planned :D

And pre-order cancel, watched a video of it in france (still beta, but late beta by the date of things), and it took over 2 minutes from pressing play before the actually got past the loading screens and were driving. This was on the nurburgring so a long course but two minutes, had enough of this 'advanced technology and amazing graphics' making me feel like I'm still using a spectrum loader. Will buy it if when it is actually realised the load times are reasonable

You mean the faked one with the video slowed down?

Still gonna wait until it's actually out, if Sony really took issue with this load time it would have been worded far stronger than:

Update 2: We asked Sony about the theories that the video has been doctored to show slower load times. A spokesperson told us that no one on the GT5 product team in the U.S. had witnessed load times as slow as the one depicted in the video posted here. Has the video been altered? Was there something up with that build of GT5 that day? Does the game load its tracks that slowly? We can point to this video, cited by readers, of another pre-release version of the game loading the Nurburgring track more quickly.

There would actually be load times, like saying on 20 ps3's we tested this on the longest time was 42 seconds (still too long IMHO).

Given my limited play time now when I can fire up a console I want to actually play, not stare at load screens, 1 minute you think is fine, I'd also assume as with previous GT's if you want to restart after a stonking crash you wait another minute, then you finish the race but want another go as you only came 3rd that's another minute. Load times on GT since GT2 have been sluggish, and for the sake of bascially just wanting to race on the Top Gear track I'm happy to skip GT until it's out

42 seconds... for a 14+ mile track

Not bad going around 1200mph. That'll do me.

Not to mention you've just added 50% onto the time there with your 1 minute estimation, it's closer to 30... but I note you didn't use that.

You've never had to wait for the track to reload, you must be thinking of another game.

But hey, no loss. Enjoy not buying the game of the decade... just depends which decade atm.

Nice way to take a figure I pick at random which I said Sony might have said and use it as fact :D I think the actual time is 52 seconds from pressing play to seeing the cars driving around though, quite a few places have sped it up to real speed and confirmed that time

And you are right about the reload bits, that's my poor memory and hatred of loading times for you, though it does make me ponder what driving game I'm thinking of

We can agree to disagree though, enjoying Demonssssssss Souls enough and progressing slowly enough that I'm not in a rush, once I finish that anyway I've for Red Dead to get back into

Which NFS ? I'm always put off by what seems to be the many and different versions of it, still the main draw for GT5 is driving the top gear track, so I'm waiting to hear what that is like and how much you have to unlock before you can drive it
