Eh, I was sure I'd seen quite a few screenshots of actual car damage on it, or can only certain cars be damaged ? Is the other driver AI improved or do they still generally drive round like it's a school run all neatly behind each other ?

I was never fussed about car damage, it can add an element, but in all honesty, where theres car damage involved, i always get fully rammed by angry AI settings, or idiots online in forza.

Not even got a PS3 yet, but i did see the 320gb PS3 and GT5 bundled for 260 in tesco

Brought it last night. So far i'm totally and utterly disapointed by it, apart from the fact it looks and feels unfinished with screen tearing and a strange mixture of absolutely stunning graphics followed by PS2 looking stuff, the game feels messy. Oh and lets not forget the load times and the hell that was the installing (make sure you have 10g free!)

The racing isn't much better the AI are still zombies, they maybe are alittle more interesting than before, but nothing that's going to actually make you feel you are in a proper race, or feel they have any awareness of you. Collisions are a boring as ever, just a dull thud and then you stick together for a while - and if there is damage it's not really notisable.

The biggest downer though is online. There is no levelling up, experience to be gained, no tracking of you online history infact no ranking at all. I could live without those but the most insane decision is there is no car/class restrictions or parameters at all to setup - so the online is just all about the fastest 1% of the cars. If you take a Golf, Camper Van or a Mini into a race you'll be up against Zonda's, Ferrari's - it's a truely dumb decision.

Oh and the Top Gear test track is almost a sub game - as far as I can see you can only run 3 cars round it, you can't race on it - or choose anything other than the 3 cars it lets you select from. More options may open up later I suppose.

Got to honest I'm thinking of taking this back over the weekend, huge letdown.

Ta Soupy, you've just saved me 36 quid on amazon, was just about to buy it when I thought I'd check here.

Think I need to give Forza another look and the PS3 is still just about Buzz and blu-rays (oh though I still need to get going properly with Demonss Souls)

Have to say the more i play it the more i dislike it :(

i know damage isnt the be all and end all but it does add an element of Realisum.

Just read the Ars review, I grew up with GT so I really wanted to like it but even there reviewer who grew up with GT has said it's a game you should rent :( The bit which stuck out to me was that on some cars you couldn't change the wheels, but you could change the horn noise ... the AI leveling up with you kind of makes sense, but you still would never get the 'Bugger it's Rossi behind me'. I think it's time I bite the bullet and buy x-box live gold, was holding off, but I think it's time I just bit the bullet and got the xbox online again
