Can confirm 7PM is good for me.
Other half got home early from the courts as we had hoped. ;)
(Prosecuting I might add!)

We did a couple of missions last night, and made it to Druids' Overlook. So a short walk (which is a quest) from The Wilds. So good progress! :)
We used TeamSpeak which saves typing. I'll post a snippet of what u guys sounded like later.

I really started to speed up when I hit this area with my first character (Ra/Mo).
I guess because I really liked the jungle area. It is still my favourite area.

Some very nice skills available in this region too from sellers and quests. Throw dirt etc.

Razorbill is 'The Wilds' your next mission then, or one of the nearby later ones?

That's quite good going. I remember that being a long one! The Monday group is getting a bit of a spurt on now, but at least you know where we are.

Spot of group PvP tonight. 7PM-ish. FOUR of us would be quite good. Not sure if you will get forced to do RANDOM Arenas until you have 5 consecutive wins though :/ Which would be an annoyance. We really want to be in the Team Arenas.

Teamspeak of course.

Mainly Running the other characters through to unlock skills for PVP (got another couple of NEc & Warrior last night) Was planning on getting on my sons PC earlier last night but must admit I have gotten into the "Life on Mars" Tv program at 9pm on BBC1 & can't see the Tv in the boys bedroom :)

Sorry I couldn't stay longer last night :(

Well at least I think we now have an appreciation for needing offensive power. Very impressed to hear Coalman saying this since it was only your second time out! It is critical though.

Best way to unlock skills is via PvE really (until you get bored with it - my 5 times through is a bit extreme!!) Faction gained in short PvP sessions (and they can be a lot shorter than a PvE session if u want) is best spent on vital runes (Superior Vigor) and weapon mods at this stage.

Skills cost 3K a pop which sounds exhorbitant, but if u look at the PvP forums on gwonline.net you may find a build which you are very close to anyway. Air Elementalist spikers for teh w1n!!

I can recommend taking regular short sessions in the Random Arenas. You will learn a LOT without realising it.

Anyway here is my not too difficult to make basic Ranger/Mesmer build, which I have had a lot of success with in Random Arenas (18 consecutive wins max so far):-

Ranger/Mesmer

Skills
======
Backfire (Me)
Guilt (Me)
Troll Unguent
Apply Poison
Dodge
Distracting Shot
Crippling Shot (E)
Ressurection Signet

Attribs
=======
Domination 10
Beast Mastery 0
Expertise 9 +1
Wilderness Survival 9 +1
Marksmanship 8 +1
Unused Attribs: 6

Armour
======
Travellers Mask
Studded Leather Vest (of minor Marksmanship)
Studded Leather Leggings (of minor Wilderness Survival)
Stuuded Leather Gloves (of minor Expertise)
Studded Leather Boots (of Superior Vigor)

Weapon
======
1) Poisoners PvP Longbow of Shelter (Damage +15>50)
2) Poisoners Short Bow of Shelter (Damage +15>50)

The Crippling Shot is used to help the monk. You won't always get a monk in the team in RA, but any team which gets LOTS of consecutive wins invariably DOES have a monk. Cripple the warrior attacking him, so the monk can run away and regen. (I've noticed when playing a monk myself you normally get precious little cover in RA - any you DO get can make the difference.) Also cripple flag runners and anyone crossing the icy river in the shiverpeak arena. Like in our Guild Hall they will not be able to run immediately on the ice even when cripple wears off.

Backfire is for killing casters (esp monks). Guilt is for getting more energy and is usually cast on Necros or Elementalists or Mesmers.

===

I do play around with the mesmer part a bit to see what works better.

Currently trying:-

Domination 8
Inspiration 7

Backfire (Me)
Drain Enchantment (Me)

Drain Enchantment gains me more energy and is particularly useful against Wa/Mo running Mending (will go for the Healing Signet quicker when poisoned, which I interrupt) and Monks running Divine Boon.

Enchantment stripping is generally a good PvP strategy full stop, so it fulfills a few purposes in one.

HTH

Happy faction farming :)

P.S. I'm a crap teacher really. Best is to experiment in your own time and read some PvP forums or class specific forums at gwonline.net .

P.P.S. I also don't particularly like playing monk either, but I'm stuck with it for now unless we decide to go without one . . . . which might be interesting.
I keep notes, so can re-roll a character in maybe 5 mins.

Monday Night 7PM
Lower Level PvE Group

WE ARE IN THE WILDS NOW!

From what I've read about keeping the storyline consistent, it is probably best to do the next couple of missions rather than quests. Otherwise we will end up getting quests to fight the White Mantle and wondering why - we were just Knighted and inducted into the WM at the end of the last mission.

Missed 2nite completely, thats the trouble when you are known for your PC prowess - had to sort out a friends PC which as a 2nd hand PC was infected with spyware & as the person concerned had just got NTL Broadband & I had installed Zonealarm was going mad with messages about such & such program trying to access the internet. Luckily they had the good sense to deny access although they had managed to stop a couple of programs that did need to get through in the process but hadn't ticked the remeber setting. Also had to set up an email account for each person in the house as they thought by adding their names in Thunderbird (another install on my part along with Firefox both set to default & IE/Outlook icons deleted & told not to use them) was enough. When I finally got home I found that amazon had finally delivered my nice new Logitech G15 keyboard which I am using to type with after unistalling my old MS Internet Pro & software so basically the whole evening has gone without any playtime so the badies better lookout tomorrow as I feel a need to kill big time :)

TBH you didn't miss much last night Coalman. We did some previous quest mop-up rather than new missions because some of the regulars were missing, and I know what a pain it can be to catch up some times.

Present were:-
(DarkSwan) Little Swallow Mo/Ne20
(Aciiid) Astarar Gorndir Ra/Me15
(Kaloras) Kaloras Cleg El/Mo15

Missing were:-
(Jerro) Jerro Taq Ra/Ne
(Tihran) Aendor Triclaw El/Ne

and Razorbill (not sure which character he has in The Wilds).

Not many people will be about on Wednesday, and I will probably not be about much next week at all (new job).

I probably will be about tonight if you want to try Abbadon's.

I didn't get much play time last night. 8-9:15 PM maybe and half of that was rolling and recording a new PvP character (IWAY axe warrior - my shame i know - but probably the only way to get some FAME in HA).

The other half doesn't like me playing late :(

Jerro Taq (Ra/Ne), my first character is still mopping up quest around Lions Arch - but then I've been out of the gamne for a couple of weeks. Recently, I've been getting my second guy Havelock (El/Mo) through pre-searing.

I've noticed that by playing a second class and using a wirder variety of spells and hexes etc, it's helped me to better understand enemy actions and counter more effectively. Obvious, really. Thinking about a third character now - if I make a Wa/Me I'll have the full set.

See y'all around.

Yep Wife's will do that & no matter how much you try & appease them it never seems enough. Thats what my ex-wife said anyway :(

Just to let you all know I've not dropped off the face of the planet.

The new job is sucking up a good 12 hours a day atm and I had to (well self imposed) work over this past weekend too (at home).

Which means my own PC is still not fixed. I couldn't log into GW now even if I wanted to. :( Hence no roster update.

This coming weekend is pencilled in to do a proper investigate, but since the machine doesn't even POST atm it ain't looking good :/

Hopefully back up in the nearish future though.

See you around.

Yep you only have to the 23rd March to get sorted :) otherwise you will miss the PVE trial of the new expansion pack. I have only managed to give one of my invites away as it seems anyone who is interested in trying already has a copy of the game.
