Ok, found this crafting guide which is bloody handy.

eg I didn't know this "Hold down control to highlight crafting nodes. This will help you find hidden ones."

Going weaponsmith & jeweler :)

edit: aww crap just noticed neither craft can make bags or boxes, guess I'll have to buy those then.

Crafting guides for all professions 1-400 :

http://www.gw2wiz.com/

You can level 1-400 in any craft in around an hour. Using Crafting XP booster helps.

Each of the professions gives XP to your main character level as you do them.

XP scales to the level of your character. One profession 1-400 will give 10 levels to your character, whether that be from 10-20 or from 70 to 80.

Cooking is a nice easy 10 levels and costs about 2 gold or so.

Yes you can just level all 8 professions on one character to level it from 1 to 80 ><

If you do cooking some of the ingredients suggested in the guide need to be bought from vendors out in zones that you need to do their quests for to unlock them. It's fun to do, but if you don't want to do that just check out http://www.gw2db.com/ look at recipes - cooking for the skill you want to get past and see what suits you.

If you've bought some gold or aren't worried about spending some then the other trades can be easier and as quick.
