Hellgate - where to farm equipment early/mid game

If you're struggling because you haven't found decent weapons / equipment in the first couple of acts there is one place you can farm nice gear near the end of act 2.

SPOILER

The end of Act 2 zone is inside the mind of 314.

3 of his personas are the last thing you kill - they count as end of level bosses and have great item drops.

If you dont progress the quest you can repeatedly go back and kill them. I'm not sure if its safe to kill all 3 if you want to do this or whether you just need to get the drops from 2 of them then restart your game.

Found 3 legendary guns and loads of blues so far and only level 5. Loving it, despite the issues it has with my comp - locks up occasionally and sloooow mouse pointer. Loads of Diablo references too, from Wirt and his prosthetic leg to soundbites such as the Zombies "brains" and the low level background screams which sound like the very same ones used when you go underground in Diablo 1.

Cull, when you say slow mouse pointer do you mean it's jerky?

I had that and noticed it seems to matter which alt key you use. The Alt Gr key (on the right of the keyboard) seems to make the pointer less responsive but when I started using the left hand alt it worked fine.

Weird, I know, but worth a try.

I use left alt but will try right, got a feeling its a ram thing as i only have 1gig atm.

Anyone else found the T.A.R.D.I.S in Covent garden market yet :)

A good way of getting decent legendary items, is to use the crafters. keep zoning in and out and the item list will change, doesn't take too long to get some nifty stuff although its a bit cheesy :)

Get it mate, like Diablo you can dip in and out of it, just go in for half an hour and kill stuff or play all night doin quests etc. There are lots of thinly disguised diablo bits - for instance a lot of weapons have mountings for ammo, relics, fuel etc. These are in essence sockets and the objects that go in them crystals and jewels. So it has all that familliarity, but the setting and playstile are totally different.

What are the min specs for this? I can't find them on the webby.

I played the beta and it ran ok, so is that the same client?

My all time fav game was D1&2, so is this really D3??

If the Demo worked I think it's fair to assume the game will, there is a spec game on EA's website (where I brought it digitally), though the video card stuff meant bugger all too me, but it worked so I'm happy enough

live plays better than beta, and they'll continuie to tweak the gfx engine to make it better and better, so, it's safe to assume that your experience will improve.

Yes, to all intents and purposes, I'd say it was a (very much improved) Diablo III. I can see meself dipping in to this time and again.

it seems liek they have messed with their loot tables since beta to prevent excessive farming.

eg if you have the quest to kill 314 active, you get loads of epix drops, however, if you are just farming him, the cahnce of gold shines is decreased, though i could be wrong on this. i picked it up from chat yesterday.

It's odd, run through the first area now three times as my summoner, blade master and engineer. Both my summoner and blade master have seen pretty much the same loot, while my engineer has twice had to portal out of the two starting area off the first station to sell up (yeah I know, I though I should have just dismantled stuff later on as well).

It perhaps is so the engineer can have weapons for his drones, but whatever it is my engineer is stonking rich which my others are scrimping and saving.

I think I'll be using either my engineer or summoner as my main, BM is alot of fun but it involves alot more clicking and button mashing

It's essential to dismantle stuff tbh. My stash is stuffed with a couple of diverse weapons (so I can finish off the mini game for extra drops), mobs and event recipes and goods. My inv is also stuffed with mods too good to chuck away and broken down parts. There's no way you can keep a decent sized inv free after a while. I've also got 20k+ credits just from adventuring around as I rarely sell anything (trying to get the achievement for 1k breakdowns)
