How long to retrieve hero list ?

Once you get past error 37, how long does it take to retrieve the hero list? left it 30 mins so far ..., then cancelled, then had to get past error 37 again, now left it another 30 mins retrieving ...

You're in good company mate.

They're apparently patching the servers so I'd go and make a cup of tea ..or possibly several.

I'd be more annoyed if I'd paid the extra to download the client directly rather than getting it shipped, I guess, so it could be worse. Shipping it first class was probably a mistake though.. :)

once its authenticated (which for me took maybe 100 to 200 tries? but then it was starting at 11:00 last night...) the retreiving hero list took about a minute.
on the plus side, the queues seem to mean its not laggy once your on :p

I would love to know which muppet thought it was a good idea to make the single player aspect of the game require you connect to the servers.

Once you have authenticated your account online to activate the game surely you could then play offline?

A wee tad frustrating! I hope its a bit more sorted by the weekend. I can understand (maybe not happy about it mind) that today there will be a major surge in traffic as everyone wants a shot but still, they know how many copies they have sold and how fanatical your average Diablo fan is...

thing is, its only the login servers that have any problem it seems - once your on, its perfect. my main suggestion is to log on at lunchtime, and then play for 12 hours, that way you dont have login problems :p

played from about 2pm - then my PC froze at about 9 last night, and it only took me ~5 minutes to get back in game.
Nearly ending act 2 - now... Holiday time.
