It probably needed them just to stay alive given the success of WoW in the MMG marketplace.

From what I have seen and read people are leaving WOW in droves and going to eq2 from sheer boredom. I left as there is nothing to do in WOW apart from farm the same places for items once you reach 60 which doesnt take long.

EQ2 takes longer to get there with loads of new places to visit. Its nowhere near as easy but not over difficult. Loads more quests in EQ2 than WOW (and I love questing).

Will be interesting to see how WOW is doing by the time it finally gets its expanion out.

Alot of people are moving from WoW at the moment - the large guilds are going because spending more time in the game is pointless as the expansion will make all the item farming worthless.

EQ2, DAOC, Eve and L2 have seen a good jump in subs over the last few months.

I like EQ2, however IMHO it is still rough around the edges and needs to improve the interface, quest handling and some other bits to match the 'pick up and play' aspect from WoW.

Playing EQ2 and 360-FFXI as my main MMO's at the moment.

Just my 2p worth.

# Features: Higher level advancement -- now reach level 70 as an adventurer or artisan
# All-new Achievement system to further enhance and specialize your character's abilities
# Guild advancement expanded to level 50
# Four new arena champions and two new arenas
# All new Heritage Quests allow players to gain amazingly powerful items, personal status, adventure experience and even a reward made famous in the original EverQuest
# Signature Quests which reward large experience bonuses, personal status, new items, and advance the lore of EverQuest II
# Over 30 new Collections expand upon one of the most popular features exclusive to EverQuest II. Find them all and earn all new rewards
# Challenging new zones, from floating islands to menacing dungeons
# 25 new enemies to fight
# Brand new pieces of armor, such as Profession Hats, Helmets and Pauldrons, will make your character look more distinct
# Over 30 new items to put in your player house
# All new player titles

WoW may not have the expansions you have to pay for but that's not a bad thing, and doesn't make EQ2 a good thing.

Good luck to EQ2 though, and the "Please enter PIN number" loot system Sony will no doubt soon introduce ;)

Edited: Cos soon is spelt with an S, not a D :/

I'm dead against profiterering in MMG, and Sony have it down to a fine art.

two expansions already? ffs.. yer paying x quid a month already and they want more?

I'd never have bought them, even if I were still playing.

EQ2 has PvP, has done since the last expansion. Just not in the sense of "you can kill anyone you like" as you have to agree to duel (Im aware some people may not call this PvP as such). Looks like they are having PvP servers rather than changing the servers at the moment to PvP enabled without consent.

I dont mind actually paying a bit extra every what 6months to get more game content if its worth it. Sadly it IS vital if you really want to carry on playing once you have reached the level cap (it's more or less pointless playing if you don't have the expansions for 50+ at the moment) and as it takes an average high guild player probably 3 months to get to the next level cap you only get 3 months of really raiding before your back onto levelling again. (If they keep the expansions coming like they are) again to many people will get disheartened trying to keep a raiding guild together through the constant changes.

The sad thing is that theres very little effort put into the new expansions, far to many zones or instance dungeons used exactly the same layout just with a few different mobs thrown in. I find it rude and insulting that the time is not taken to actually produce more unique content when every 6 months you have to pay for the expansions. For me this is the biggest issue with EQ2 at the moment, the extra payment is not rewarded.

As for the Highlights it looks like its going the path of EQ1 with big raid mobs, again the old have another 10 level to do (which if you dont buy the expansion you may as well stop playing at 60th) Titles, new items for player housing and the collection quests is rather a joke to be put in as highlights, at least if they are anything like the ones we already have.

Best things look like being the new Heritage Quests, Signature Quests and the new zones.

May not actually bother getting it, have lost a lot of interest with it over the last few months as it is and nothing there inspires me enough to start again. Bring back EQ1 expansions where you actually got something for your money.

just my 2cp
