Late to the party - TF2

Well I got TF2 on steam for the mac, and ahead of me have a weekend with only a little decorating, so I'm planning on diving head first into TF2 but I'm a little cautious that I have no clue about things or maps, and everyone else will have years of experience. Are there such things as beginner servers or maybe evening training videos maybe I could watch ?

I'm planning on trying Engineer first on the idea it's less important for the quick reactions with my vision, with another option being the big massive guy with a chain gun, is that a right idea. I'm basic looking for the FPS with more tactics than the fast paced rocket jumping sniping things

And I'm assuming mac and pc play on the same servers so may see people on there

Gotta you should be fine, the maps are fairly small and straight forward.

Engineer is great fun, especially when u position turrets in a great place and wipe all comers

Heavy does best when he has a pet healer on tow.

Pyro is fun too BBQ.

I had always planned to get it for xbox, but kinda want to support steam on the mac, first time I've had some spare time to actually sit down and play it though, most my gaming now is on the iPad or iPhone (Dubble for iPad, bubble bobble clone is eating up most my time ), quite looking forward to a weekend of playing on the computer, beer fridge is well stocked and I may order in some pizza

TF2 has tactics but it's also fast with rocket jumping and sniping.

Try the Medic. You can follow other players round with your mouse button glued down and get an idea of the maps without having to worry so much about targeting the enemy.
