Men v Boys

Thats what last nights game was.

You could point out that Gibbs was unlucky and that the free kick wasn't deserved from Ronaldo but equally I don't think Arsenal were ever going to beat Man U over the two legs.

Wenger needs to bring experience in. Otherwise they will carry on being what they are - the fourth best team in the PL and occasionally getting to quarters and the semis of the Champions League.

Experience isn't just about the players ability on the ball, its about what they bring to the team off the pitch as well and bringing the youngsters on. Its about time Wenger got with the program on this one.

Good blog from the BBC:

Did anyone see Ferguson completely snub Beckham? Beckhams reaction was priceless, haha.

I'm always amazed at what people think Arsenal should and shouldn't do.

You never hear anyone say "If Newcastle bought bigger they wouldn't be in a relegation dogfight" or "If West Ham spent more money they'd be fighting for a top 4 finish". It seems to be fashionable. :)

We are what we are which is a top 4 club who has a good run in the CL most seasons. We have no right to win anything and are under a lot less pressure than the bigger European teams to win things. The only reason people harp on about us needing this or that is because poor excuses for pundits on Sky tell everyone we do.

We need players no more than any other team in the PL need players to further their ambitions and imo Arsene performs miracles with what he has. We over-achieved in the CL this season for example and in the end were beaten by a much better team.

Sorry, bit of a rant there. Had a bad day. :)

To be fair mate, you're only that this term because O'Neill is such a prat and tried to change his entire team and the way it played to fit Heskey into it. Was their first win in 8 games this last weekend I think ?

edit :

Ky is Patrice Evra and I claim my 5

Patrice Evra has branded Arsenal "children" after last night's crushing Champions League victory at the Emirates Stadium, and said Manchester United's performance was on "another level".

Evra, who played his part as United recorded a 3-1 second-leg win, 4-1 on aggregate, said United's superiority was clear.

"It was 11 men against 11 children. We never doubted ourselves. We have much more experience and that's what made the difference. We were always confident. It should have been that score in the first leg anyway. It is a great United team that won.

"Football today is not only about playing well, it's about winning trophies. Everybody talks about the way Arsenal play but, at the end of the day, it's about winning silverware.

"At United, we play well and we win. Tactically and technically we were superior. You look at our starting 11 and theirs and you see that we are well above.

"Lots of people are disappointed because they thought they would beat us like they did in the league. But the Champions League is another level."

Out of order and stupid thing to say; hope Wenger pins that to the dressing room door when they play them again next week.

Tree, I find it funny that you think you're a top four club now and no more.

For 10 years it was Arsenal v Man United in the Premiership before Chelsea came along and Liverpool strengthened. Arsenal invested in the new stadium to guarantee them being one of the biggest boys in the playground; its the second biggest ground and the most expensive tickets in the Premiership.

Its not the clubs ambition to "just be a top 4 club", I guarantee it and its not just Skys rhetoric either. I don't think anyone thinks thats the case except for fans making excuses for Wenger not winning anything for four years.

Yes, his reigning in of the chequebook to pay back some of the investment in the stadium is prudent and admirable but you'll struggle to attract the best players and keep the good ones you have if you don't start winning something soon IMO.

Maybe I'm wrong and maybe every other Arsenal fan I talk to is wrong (lots at work and some of my family) but thats the considered view; Wenger needs to sort out the side with some experience.

Evra's quote shows the type of attitude that makes the average fan hate this football club, many of their players (I am not including class like Giggs and Scholes here) are too full of themselves. Arsenal need an experienced pro, and I would go for Barry if I was Wenger, moreso Alonso if they can get him (hopefully not...). Someone of that ilk. They have some great youngsters and are in a (somewhat long) transition, which I am sure they will come through and be a force. They were fortunate to be gifted goals against Liverpool recently, they did not get this against the Mancs, while their defence did not improve. That is the area they need to sort out first.

Seriously, I would pin that above each player's seat at OT . Remember how Drogba crucified Liverpool last season when the picture of Rafa and his diving quote was put above his seat...

I won't watch sky because of the twonks (using a word I like, from another CUK thread) in the pundit box...

Finally, farewell and all the best to Sami Hyypia, a true professional and a legend. Howefully he will be back in a coaching role in 2 years' time.

People say this, but what he doesn't pay in buying players he pays extra in wages. Its in Deloitte and Touches annual football report every year.

Anyway, to quote Drogba,' It's a fucking disgrace.'

Wasn't that satisfying!!!
Maybe if he didn't have a history of diving and cheating he might have got the penalty but what goes around comes around. The Drog who cried wolf.

Haha.

Chelsea are claiming they were robbed last night.

Police are currently interviewing John Terry's Mum.

Overall, Manure are/were better than us and deserved to go through. Evra might want to re-evaluate his comments on the two squads due to the fact that, whilst some of the Manure players are class, some (hallo Carrick and O'Shea) are shite whilst others are merely OK.

Not quite sure they needed the Ref to help them out so much but he did try to redress the balance somewhat by not sending Ade off and cheering us all up by sending Fletcher off for a good tackle. My theory is that the Ref was so shocked to see Fletcher actually play well, he decided their must be some form of skullduggery and sent him off.

As for Chelsea..........crymore. Apparently they couldn't even hope to play Barca at football so they went there and played like Stoke. Yeah they got fucked by the Ref in the return game but a lot of the incidents looked debatable to me and perhaps if Drogba concentrated more on playing instead of going down like a 12 dollar hooker, he might have been looking at another runners-up medal instead of a juicy fine/ban.

Not sure which was funnier, Drogba losing the plot or Jamie "Impartial Sky Pundit" Redtwat sitting in the studio looking like the school bully had given him a wedgie and pissed in his lunchbox.

He's not fit to referee a match like this, he's Norwegian! Well, Jamie, you're not fit to appear on TV giving your "expert" football opinion and yet you still get paid to do so week in and week out. You might want to cut the guy some slack once your lip stops quivering.

I find it totally hilarious that even his manager was so convinced by his hobbling around, diving and time wasting, that he was injured that he took him off.

ROFL.

As he was walking off Drogba looked at him as if to say, 'don't you know me at all ?.

As for Drogba screaming,'It's a disgrace,' he would give Alanis Morrissete a run for her money.

Dogbath needs to fuck off somewhere else out of the PL where I don't need to hear about him ever again. He's a scumbag.

I disagree with that mate. Aston Villa have come on a lot but we are now ten points clear of them. They had a fair rub of the green in quite a few games during their good run and we had a few 0-0's with 15-20 shots on goal.

You could argue either way as you could with ManU's position in relation to Liverpool and Newcastle's position in relation to Hull. Its always about the could have beens. The fact is that they were not good enough to finish 4th this season over 38 games.
