Mick Aston - RIP

Did much to bring archeology to the masses. Whether you liked the end result or not he was a staple of Channel 4 tea times through out 20 or so years of me growing up.

Such a shame that he had left TT a year or so ago

To be honest, his new project with Tim Taylor and Stuart Ainsworth, Dig Village, was Time Team and much much more. He looked so healthy last time he was on one of the videos a few weeks ago. Sad loss, another of my Heroes has slipped away.

Mick was a great archaeologist who had an obvious passion for his job, one of the best on medieval monasteries but knowledgeable and engaging on all periods or archaeology. I never got the chance to work with him but several people I have worked with did and they held him in high regard.
