Muse - The Resistance

Ky

Stupid is as stupid does
I have heard a few tracks (United States of Eurasia which is exceptional and Resistance which is pretty awful) but not the album. Reviews haven't been that favourable; NME gave it 6 out of 10 and I think its one where there are some good tracks but some very average ones as well.

I'll still buy it but I'm not expecting to be blown away by it like I was with the first 3.

I've only had the chance to play it though once. It seemed to lack any real flow from track to track, the last 3 part thingy was good though, there are a couple of duff tracks in the middle that sound alittle like Queen, which is worrying! It'll probably grow on repeat listens, but i'm pretty sure this won't be as good as 'Absolution' for me.
This (probably) and the last album has been alittle to OTT for my liking, I can't really blame them for wanting to try new sounds, but the whole kitchen sinkiness of these latest albums doesn't make for a cohesive album.

oh thank god. i thought it might be just me that was sat there thinking "um, that sounds like queen, right?"
i'm not an expert in either muse or queen, so thought it might be something that proper museaphiliacs would laugh at me for thinking....

Definately their worst album.

The Exogenesis Suite is great and I really like 'Undisclosed Desires' (even if it is a Depeche Mode rip-off). 'MK Ultra' is another good one, but the rest is a rather mixed bag and worryingly there are way to many rip offs of other songs and bands and even themselves.
Feels like they put all there energies into the Suite then tossed out a handful of songs quickly to complete the album.
