just to let you know why i'm not on GW much at the moment...
basically, my guild in WoW is going through some fairly major changes at moment (ie. i merged them with a bigger guild, and our guild leader isnt too extatic about it.... *looks innocent*), so i kinda have to be on there quite a bit, trying to smooth things over and sort stuff out.

Guild mergers - bit of a nightmare I would imagine.

I keep an eye out for other Guilds that might be worth allying with, if ever that gets implemented.

yer, a lot more effort than youd think (well, more than i expected anyway, but then i didnt really think it through ) trying to get everyone onto the new forums, and posting up their details, making sure people have changed in-game guild, and are getting involved with stuff, all without treading on anyones toes too much... argh...

On an unrelated note, Chapter 2 GW is due out Feb 2006 (so lets mark that down as June). Play.com are taking advanced orders already.

ArenaNet, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NCsoft Corporation, was founded by key members of the creative teams that developed the hit games Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo, as well as the Battle.net gaming network. ArenaNet will create a state-of-the-art, interactive game network and will design and publish premier multiplayer online games for a wide range of game players.

So a good technical pedigree. We'll have to see how the management in ANET deal with any hacks that come along.

I'm hardly an ANET fanboy. I'm disappointed thet there are farming bots present.

But I suspect there is some level of a cat and mouse chase going on. There has never been a time when I've logged onto the game and there hasn't been a file to download. I don't think it's all cosmetic graphic changes. Possibly something that needs checksumming.

And my point is that what may be technically possible may be voted down by the PR/marketing bods who want beans to count irrespective of their colour.

We will very much have to see which way this goes when it starts to get ugly. And I'm not naive enough to imagine it won't.

If ANET are up for sale any time soon (as Blizzard North were) then we can expect the worst.
