Necrons

I've got a reasonable sized Necron army, it could do with more stuff to make it function in higher point games but up to 1500 it's does well.
Necrons are hurting under 5th edition especially in CC and anti vehicle weapons but they are far from broken. I've won more games with my Necrons than my Nids, a lot of people underestimate them.
A lot of players going up against you will assume that you'll form up in a gunline and never really move, you can really surprise them when you start teleporting units out of CC or around the board for late game objective grabs. And "we'll be back" can really throw some one off when they see most of the models they just killed get back up. Having almost every weapon in your army able to glance vehicles on a 6 is also not that bad (5th ed rules do weaken this a lot though). The C'tan aren't great, certainly not at their point cost (they reduce the number of actual necrons you field and thus make it easier to phase out), but if they live long enough to get into CC they can gut pretty much anything and i've seen people panic when i've deployed one onto the table.
You do really need to make sure your squads all work together for the army to be effective, keeping ressurection orbs, tomb spiders and monoliths in the right place is also vital.
Necrons are a lot of fun and with hints of a new codex being worked on (keep an eye out for clues on new units in the new codexs and black library books... they are supposed to be clues as to whats coming in them) means that an overhaul is coming... maybe not this year but who knows.
