NTSC to PAL converter?

I keep trying to get my TV to play various video formats through the usb ports, but no joy. My TV says it supports .avi, .mp4 etc.

I think the reason might me that the programs I have downloaded are in the US NTSC formats and I need to convert them to PAL for them to work.

Does anyone know a good freeware proggy that can do this well and fast?

I downloaded Any Video Converter, but I can't see an option to change from regional formats :(

Download the progs in avi or mp4, stick em on a key and plug in to your xbox mate. Thats how I watch most of my stuff. You can always get torrents of stuff and usualy in high def. Once the key is inserted, navigate to the xbox video player. Only thing I cant get it to see is .mkv files. Most stuf is out on mp4 tho and is usualy 480 or 720p.

er...no xbox m8, so was wanting to watch stuff on the TV with the better half as she hates watching on the pc.

Figured out the converter now, but damn it is slow to convert so not tried it yet.

Most dls are prolly going to be MKV for higher def stuff. Sounds like your TV doesn't support the format you've downloaded or the codec that was used.

You could try downloading another format or updating the firmware of your TV.

I've just run a HDMI cable from my PC to the TV now and use it as a big monitor.

Before that I was using a WDTV Live which could stream from my PC HD across the network and played 99% of the stuff I threw at it.

It says it supports avi, mp4 and mkv in the manual, but so far nothing works.

I have converted a avi last night to PAL and will try it tonight and see if that was the problem. Not that bothered, it is more a 'would be nice', than a 'must have'

what size usb stick are you using and is it formatted as fat32, reason i ask about the size is i have a friend who has a tv with a usb slot and if i put anything on a usb pen larger than 4gb the tv doesn't see it

Using an 8gb and it sees the files.

The converter worked....well sort of, got video, but no audio :(

Back to the drawing board I guess.
