I personally think it would be nice to see him at Highbury, but our strike force is the same as last season. Better in fact as Reyes ran Fulham ragged the other night and looks like he is more confident and more up for it and Bergkamp looks as good as ever. We scored 87 goals, twice as many as Everton who were 4th and Bolton who were 6th . We score from so many different positions that I just don't think we need another striker. We can afford to overlook him imo.
Overmars was getting a bit of a sicknote rep when he came to us. His last year at Ajax was pretty average. Silvy was hardly regarded as World Class, and cost peanuts relatively. Petit was virtually unknown unless you followed French football and was regarded a very solid player at Monaco for 9 or so years. He was 28 when he came to us. None of these players were setting the world alight at the time they came to us, I mean; they came to Arsenal at a time where there was great change and we had been having a torrid time under Rioch. If they were that highly rated at the time, they would have gone to a bigger club. By the time they left, and they weren't the same players after they left, they were world class.
I'd rather we paid the money for a world class CB which is where we are really short.
An injury to Henry would be bad, but so would an injury to Rooney for ManU, who have more money than us, but only have the peroxide thug to come in for him if he did get injured.
Thinking about it more, I would be horrified if we did pay 15-20mil for a striker when we have such obvious weakness in another area.
I think Owen will be good for whoever he plays for, but we need to be spending our fairly small funds at the moment elsewhere and scoring goals is not our problem.
