ooook

I am surprised not to see more CUK old-timers getting excited about this game though.

It is:
1. Not Diablo 3 - All those design decisions you hated about D3? This is the opposite.
2. Probably the "True" successor to Diablo 2 really.
3. Has fantastic and hilarious uniques such as these that you can do entire builds around:

4. It is FREE. Not dumb microtranscation free, but real free. Ok tehre are probably some microtransactions in there somewhere but it's survivable.
5. 'Dat passive skill tree..... So much you can do with a build....

This is my current marauder build though i'm not 100% happy with it....

Just discovered this Diablo clone, once i read some online reviews, looks very promising, from the small amount of play i've had so far.

Pity it came along just days before my yearly obsession with the new Football Manager game is about to strike.

Played this very early beta, and said at the time I liked it better than DIII. Stopped playing, dunno why, must get it again.

Agreed, more the D2 successor than D3 is.

Found it to be frustratingly hard in beta, but they seem to have toned it down now for standard, but of course you can select hardcore, nightmare type diff too if you want.
Only encountered the microtransaction so far when I tried to open a guild stash, you have to pay for that, but not checked out how much yet.

I hated it in Beta.
Some of the issues I had are still there, but it's good enough now to be great fun.
Melee accuracy RNG still gets on my tits though.....

I'd happily throw a few quid at sorting a guild stash :)

Only just realised that the gateway doesn't affect anything except instance creation, so I can still chat with you chimps, provide/leech phat lewt & get into your laggy games from the US. How's all this guild nonsense work anyway?

I like how hardcore chars die and then fall into the softcore pool, makes wusses like me more likely to check that out for fun.

My first character is a bow based rogue. No idea what I'm doing really but have been enjoying a multishot/frenzy combo with whatever support gems I can find (currently life gain on hit + ele dmg on frenzy and multiple projectiles + fork on multishot for spam). Probably going to need some way to sustain my mana use eventually.

Totally overwhelmed by the options available, trying really hard to just alllow myself to mess it up & start over as required, otherwise I think I'd be too paralyzed by choice to make any passive skill tree selections at all.

[Also amused by how d3 has made me forget various arpg staples like chain chugging pots and putting portals in useful locations for later]

Just to note that it is worth checking out the different leagues as well as the Standard one as they add more variety to the game - for example the Domination League contains shrines that provide mobs with additional abilities until you claim the shrine and it's associated ability. The different Leagues also have different item drops as well. Tis fun and free.
There are microtransactions in there but they seem to be more in line with character customisation, pets, spell effects etc. that some people may like but are not really necessary for game progression. Groovy.

Just unlocked Blood Magic on my marauder:
- "Removes all mana - spend life instead of mana for skills"

Linked a AoE Sweep gem with Life on hit and +damage as a secondary then using Heavy Strike (And Leap Slam) linked to a couple of +damage skills, manouverability and mad damage ... Damage is a recurring theme.... plus... hell a ton of other stuff cross-linked i'm fiddling with. Fun times.

Is it possible to link a full character?

My shadow is only 11 or so but I am finding the fire trap +corpse explosion skills decent. I have put all my passives in to +spell damage so far, I believe that later on you can link a gem that makes critters take loads extra elemental damage from 1 type.
