Percy Jackson and the Olympians

For those of you that are currently looking for something new to read, I have recently finished the first four (of five) books in the Percy Jackson & the Olympians books serier by Rick Riordan. I saw a Trailer for the movie, so I did some research and found out that the movie is based on a set of books. A short background of the series: The Greek gods are still around, living in the US and are still having half human children, kinda like Hercules, Theseus, etc. just today. Protagonist of the series is Perseus "Percy" Jackson, son of Poseidon. Kinda like Harry Potter meets greek mythology in the US. That also seems to be the intended target audience, kids aged 12-17.

I thought the books were great. Good fun, many laugh out loud moments, although some scenes are on the predictable side for anybody with good knowledge of the greek mythology. They feel to be a bit on the short side, but then, the last book I read before this series was the new Wheel of Time book, so the comparison may be slightly unfair.

Either way, I can recommend the book series to anybody that enjoyed Harry Potter and/or is interested in Greek mythology.
