Problem with headset transmitting

I have a little problem with my Razer Carcharias headset as when I am using Raidcall and talking to people using a button to trasmit not voice activation, they can also hear the game sound in the background.
I admit I do not have another headset to test but the current headset is connected via the sound input on the motherboard (Asus Crosshair).

Anyone else experience this or maybe the headset is on the blink as the volume wheel on the cable is starting to get a little dodgy, sound comes through one channel and have to touch the wheel to get sound back through both channels.

Time for a new headset?

You need to change your audio settings from 'what you hear' to mic input. I used a creative labs one and their software let me do this, windows 7 can change inputs in the audio properties, other OS may be different.

The usual culprit for changing audio inputs is Skype, so you may need to run the audio setup there and hope it supports your device or you'll have to do it every time you run Skype.

Thank I will try that tonight. Yes I am using Windows 7 and as it is my gaming machine I don't use skype on it, but not to say something else has changed the setting in the past maybe updating to a new version of Raidcall. I will have a look after work.

Cheers for your feedback, having people hearing the countdown in World of Tanks or hearing voice overs in Diablo 3 has been bit annoying.

Still no joy, friend can hear music coming through my mic as I play it through my headset. Tried so many different settings to no avail, interestingly enough alot of people seem to be having this problem with no fix found whether its soundcard based or on-board sound.
Was thinking of buying the Razer Blackshark but not sure if I am going to get the same problem, cant tell if its windows, hardware or something else.

Are we talking a feedback loop here? As in the mic picking up the noises coming from the headset? Alot of mics have automatic compression on them, so if you're not talking, it'll try to focus on whatever noise it detects, possibly your game sounds from your headset. Although that sort of stuff is fairly rare now.

Otherwise, I assume you have a headset with the 2 sockets, 1 for input, 1 for output? So can they hear you talk, AND hear game sounds? then yeah, a frayed cable would do that, but then you would probably hear yourself on the game sounds too.

Try the win 7 sound settings, like testing the mic with playback on while listening to music, the playback should just have your voice alone, if it makes the music echo a bit, then yeah might be a hardware issue. Just try to logically prove things, like the mic, then headset, then sound card, etc.

And I turned the voices off in diablo completely a long time ago, no more "look! hidden footprints" for me :p

Maybe check this out, realtek is one of the intel motherboard sound drivers for their onboard sound card.

This turns on 'what you hear' by enabling the hidden device so you'll need to disable it once un-hidden. The creative tools let you turn this on and off from it's console so other sound cards may have a similar thing.

I use the realtek drivers on my comp for my headset and don't get this problem. Although my comp is a bit wierd as I technically can have up to 4 soundcards at any time (I have a recording interface and guitarport which sometimes get left in).

It looks like the realtek drivers for the Asus Crosshair Extreme IV were not installed properly or even at all and just used what windows 7 thought was best. Turned out that the "What U hear" was enabled but because of lack of drivers I was unable to turn it off or go into the Realtek sound HD configuration to turn off the playback through the mic.
Once I have done that I have some success, though not totally eliminated game sounds come across as a faint whisper than actually hearing what I was listening to which what was happening previously. Maybe changing the headset as well will further eliminate the issue all together.

Thanks for your help guys.
