Red Dead Redemption XBOX360 & PS3

Pegasus Belgar

Red Bull gives me wings!
Coming soon for Xbox 360 and PS3, this is looking very nice, been waiting for ages for this to come out and in just over a month to go the wait is almost over. The Multiplayer Free Roam is very appealing.

I will be getting this for the Xbox 360. I do not know if whether like GTA it will appear on the PC at some point in the future.

Looking good. I hope they do the Free Roam multiplayer better than they did on GTA, which sounded great but was actually dull, they need to put a hook or purpose into it.

Was playing it for about 3.5 hours lastnight and it is a very good game, it feels like GTA but doesnt play like GTA if that makes sense.
I'm being a good guy but fu(ked up after I pressed the wrong button and dragged a driver off a stagecoach, so witnesses see me and there I am hurtling four horses carrying a stagecoach down a winding dusty trial with the sheriff and deputies chasing me. Got me a $20 fine.
Once you played a few opener missions then the games really opens up, thoroughly enjoyable as I always wanted a decent wild west game thats fairly nonlinear.

Just did my first mission with the sheriff in armidillo and really enjoying it but struggling with some control issues.

1 - Can you see how much Dead Eye you have anywhere ?
2 - Horse movement, failed miserably in any horse running around bits can't work out how to set a speed and stick to it without keep hammering on the A button, and easing off when the horse tilts it's head. There are help bits of text popping up, but by the time I see them and try and read them even on the big telly they disappear

Overall though really really enjoying it so far, shot some crows, shot some bandits, almost got run over by a train, looking forward to all weekend playing it :)

Edit:
*hug Google*, RB slows/stops the horse
And according to that same thing there is a stamina bar, so I assume there is a Dead Eye bar, but must be small enough and off centre enough I can't see it, will look carefully later

I am going by Xbox360 UI here.

The Dead-eye bar is the red bar on the right of the mini-map (I originally thought this was my health bar) and horse stamina bar is the blue bar on the left. It does take alittle getting use to the horse controls and i turned the sensativity in game down 1 notch which felt abit better.
Setting the speed for the horse if you are near say for example Miss Macfarlane, ride up close to her and hold the A button down, it will follow her but you may have to make some minor course corrections when she or another person turns as its not 100% auto follow.
You can do the same thing when your trotting, galloping, tap the A button until you find your desired riding speed (you will notice your horse stam bar goes down) then hold the A button down, the horse will stay at that speed and the stam bar will go back to the top.
X (blue on 360) will make the horse rear if youre not next to a hitch point, looks cool.

enjoyed what little I have played so far, but also bought battlefield bad company 2 and have been hooked on that.

Ahhh thanks Pegasus. So does that mean in a race I'd hammer the button until the stam bar was low, then hold A till the horse recovered, then some more sprinting, then hold, etc, etc ?

And when you are just zooming around on the horse I'm guessing you use the same technique, get up to speed and then just hold A.

Braking is good though as I've already run over two people  Though I don't think it did any actual harm

Yes pretty much that, if you tap too much and the stam bar gets almost empty and turns red the horse wont like it and will throw you off. The horse stam regen is quite fast so keep a 3rd eye on it.

Only the one eye, which is why I struggle with all that kind of stuff and the fast popping up help notes. Maybe I'll get Talili to watch it for me :)

Disapointing - seriously the auto aiming is pretty much a game breaker. I'm hoping there is a way to turn it off in the options. It pretty much sucks all the life out of the shootouts in the single player, but having dipped into the multiplayer also the auto aim makes a complete mockery of it - it basically comes down to who can hammer the shoot button quicker. Also the controls are still as sluggish as they were on GTA with my character have the turning circle of a JCB and the agility of a pensioner - and turning on a horse seems to be based more on luck!

PS how many cattle did you lose to the cliff face? I lost 3.

Change your targeting mode to expert in Options, Soupy

I found that, thanks. It definatley improves the shootouts.
I'm quite liking the game now, but it's still got quite a few issues that bug me - most are down to the controls that feel sluggish. Also the world feels abit empty, the random events are cool but they occur no matter which direction you go, there doesn't seem to be alot of stuff to find in the world - or at least I haven't found much!

I enjoyed it over the weekend, Dead Eye seems to have changed on me though which meant when a lady was being attacked I switched to Dead Eye, shot her in the side, then the guy attacking her twice, and I didn't pull the trigger once. So spent a night in jail and had to pay the bounty

got this for me birthday from the parents :p
only played it for a couple of hours, but seems fun so far. pretty much the first thing i did was turn off the autoaim thingy :p

is there a way to autotravel without using stagecoaches/trains? i'm pretty sure it tried to tell me how to at some point (as the marshall had just abandoned me in the middle of nowhere), but i was in the middle of a fight and didnt pay attention...
