sending spam emails?

Ok, it seems I have been sending mass spam emails to everyone on my email contacts list. (Using Outlook)

I never open anything with attachments usually and I run Avast to scan all email.

I scanned my system with Avast and it found nothing.

I ran Malawarebytes and it found nothing.

Is this likely to be a one off or what else can I do?

Looks like it might sod all to do with me after looking at the recipients. My dad & uncle have some of the recipients in common and I've never heard of them.

I guess the trojan is making it look like I sent them as it got my email from their contacts list?

Nothing stops me, or anyone putting in your Email address as my from field and then sending 10,000 messages, are you sure this isn't happening. You may not have a virus at all. A lot of viruses extract people's contact lists and then reuse their email address to forward spam. Someone you once emailed has a virus basically.

If you get one of your friends to send you the email they received with your address you should see in the headers it originating from someone else's IP.

I am still getting return failure emails though, so would that suggest that I am infected?

As I said before Malawarebytes and Avast found sod all.

Might try another malaware proggy.

Nope. that just means they put your address in still.
Are these 10,000's of emails in your outbox?
Is your network connection being hammered?

If these are nope, then there isn't much you can do unfortunately.
