Had 3 choices this week, Hellgate, Gears and Call of Duty 4 ...

.. i think as the wrinkly old coont in Indy 3 said , I have chosen, wisely

I quite like Hellgate, but it does feel like it has been rushed with so many unfinished bits....not as polished as I was expecting.

Still not as bad as you lot suggest.

I'm with Swither on this one, the games fun, kind of like a cross between Doom and Diablo 2. It's in no way as graphically pretty as other games in release at the mo and the chat system is appalling but the openess to modify both character and equipment as well as the fast action gameplay make the game well worth checking out. I'm enjoying both single and multiplayer games at the mo, just a shame that the crap chat system makes it damn difficult to meet up with you lit.

I got this, Gears and COD4 but havent played them yet still sorting the computer out, and im getting Crysis next weekend and UT3 the week after. And i still have HL2:E2, Portal and TF2 and CoH: Opposing Fronts to play oh and Bioshock

Jesus... that's like dying and going to heaven. I've had dreams like that but then I wake up to find I've slept in, have the kids to get ready for school and have work to get to... and it's a soap omnibus on the night time

hellgate's not that bad its not brilliant i'll agree, but its reasonably entertaining

I'm with the general opinion here, it's not ground breaking, but it's fun, certainly not something I'd pay monthly for.

My pet hates in the game at the mo are:
1) Running the game and having to click to 7 crappy splash screens + intro movie
2) Loading screens that seem full of useful "HINT:" lines but only seem to flash at high speed through them all and stop on 'Press I for Inventory' or 'Press K for skills'
3) Network errors kicking me out the game every hour (which though I think could perhaps be a good thing)

Most useful thing I discovered at the weekend was double tapping the ' key made the chat window appear (why it needs double pressing I've no idea though)

Catching up in levels and hoping to bump into people and try a group out soon

The review though is pretty on the money for things it's done wrong

generic areas are set out like a trashed london, eg camden on a saturday evening.

there are specific custom zones that are not randomized which are definately london. eg tower of london.

Gottaa, you're a genius. Ive been tearing what little hair I have left out trying to click that damn little button to get chat to open which, 9 times out of ten, it doesn't.

The options screen locks my computer up, well did last two times I tried to open it
