StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm

campaign storyline - bit meh. but thats not HotS's fault, its WoL's fault for what it did to the zerg (kerrigan's not QBotU anymore for no obvious reason! the overmind was a hero! evil Xel'naga!) That said, i really like the ideas behind In Utter Darkness, i just wish they'd done all the story leading up to it better... minor changes would have made it much more believable for me - rather than retconning the overmind into a hero, just make it that we need to cure Kerrigan so that we can convince her to use the swarm against the Hybrids. same effect, without having to completely retroactively change the nature of the zerg from the original game.

Campaign Missions - too much timed objective stuff. but i think its deliberate - the Zerg are meant to be an agressive swarm, you don't get that if you're allowed to just sit back and build up. by having everything timed you're forced to act more like a swarm that doesnt really care what happens to its individual members.

Campaign RPG elements - loved it. being able to choose actives and passives to suit how you play kerrigan was excellent.

I don't want to post too many spoilers, but seriously, why did kerrigan go human? seemed that it had no effect on anything at all anyway.

Oh and did I miss something massive? I'm fairly sure the only interaction between Kerrigan and Raynor pre-queen of the blades was he thought something naughty and she read his mind?

So in WoL Raynor is hell bent on "saving" her.... but what, they're in love? when did that happen?

edit: Oh and I'm bored of emo carebear Kerrigan too, seriously, she's killed -billions- and now she's all sad and guilty, meh.

Dead Again, I need a Rez
Im playing it, I like the new improved mod section called "Arcade" loving playing Star Command.

Artanix, she wasnt under her own control when they made her human the evil part was removed.

arty means in story terms, i think.
and it did have an impact - in theory. if you assume that until then, she was utterly ammoral and merciless, and afterwards, even once rezerged, she had human compassion (hence taking opportunities to not kill people).

but as i say, they shouldve had the story be:
Zeratul tells Raynor that the swarm is needed to defeat the hybrids.
they decide that the only way to get the swarm on their side is to get kerrigan on their side, and the only way to do that is to get her human and hope she retains control (which she did).
ah well.

Yeah I know what actually happened. But she was human for what felt like about 5 minutes. And considering the effort that was put in to make her human, I don't think she even winced at the thought of going back.

I just felt a bit dissapointed by kerrigan in general, considering she was meant to be fueled by hatred for Mengsk, I only got the smell of slight dislike, not pure hatred :)
