Dunno about Barton to WHUFC but Parker is coming to us (good signing) and Reo-Cock is on his way out, thank fuck - useless wanker.

Parkers an odd one. Great signing but amazed Newcastle are letting him go, he's the sort of player I'd have thought Sam would build the team around. Parker and Curbisly didn't part at Charlton on best terms either - strange signing!

Ironic 1 year ago you were calling for Reo Coker to be in the England worldcup team in place of Hargreaves :p (although to be fair nearly everyone was!!!) - Funny old game ;)

I'm going to have to show my ignorance about football here :p But i've never understood the 'Work Permit' ruling when signing non EU players, does it require a player to have played in Europe for a certain amount of time before they can play in the Britain? It only seem to be Britain that has these rules and that's why alot of the top talent from South America ends up in Spain and Portugul, so do Liverpool have to loan this Lucas out for a while? But there again if that is the case how did Tevez and Mascarino go straight from the Brazilian league into WH, although isn't international Caps taken into account? - Confused!
If someone could explain how this works i'd be interested.

Lucas is captain of their U20's, though it doesn't matter as he has an Italian passport mate.

50mil???? He's simply not worth anywhere near that. 15-20 seems reasonable. I do hope Liverpool or Chavs do pay that and he completely flops because these clubs with silly money need to be taught a lesson.

Barca still want him to stay, even though they have 6 big clubs offering 40mill plus. He had a knee injury for half the season, but still put away 13 goals in 15 appearances and close to that in assists. He is a once in a decade player, though normally I'd agree with you Tree.

Those figures are Euro's btw, so effectively we are offering 27mill plus Alonso - say 40mill.

As an aside, one thing I saw yesterday that surprised me - the Gooners pay 20mill more than LFC in wages and only 2mill less than the Mancs. LFC pay 60-odd mill, Gooners ~83mill, Mancs ~85mill and Chavs 90-odd mill. What kind of shape are the Gooners finances in ? I read they are trying to refinance their debt.

I'm honestly not sure those figures are right. Paying it too who? Most of our kids are getting peanuts tbh.

I'd love to see Reyes back at Arsenal we are still lacking strikers with Henry out for the majority of last year it wasnt we didnt have the firepower its havin firepower than can actually hit the back of the net we lacked.

Rosicky I hope will come into his element next season as its nice to see someone who plays for arsenal shooting from outside the box instead of trying to run 90% of their goals in. Hleb a great player in my opinion if he can learn how to shoot hes good enough to play in that position.

Oh and lets say if Wallcott this season see if hes actually got what it takes.

Reyes wants to stay in Spain so I can't see him coming back.

We have lots of debt due to the new stadium but it's well structured apparently.

I think Reyes has categorically stated he is not coming back no matter what. Shame but I can't see it.

I'm not too fussed on signings at the moment (which is just as well as an Arsenal fan).

We did amazingly well considering Henry, RvP and Walcott hardly played a part. Indeed I think Henry and RvP are our top two scorers for the season which gives you some idea. With them and Walcott back I think we could be pushing 80 points next season which gets us amongst the top 3.

Rosi had a good season I thought for his first one. So many Gooners knock Hleb but he's top imo. Our best runner with the ball and all thats lacking is the end product.

Looking at what the top teams are paying at the moment I'm glad we're not in the market. It seems to have all gone silly again with valuations all because of the new sugar daddy's that are coming into the game.

The odds have shortened..

Gamble On Henry For Liverpool
THIERRY HENRY TO JOIN LIVERPOOL? PLENTY BETTING ON IT.....Bookmakers William Hill have been forced to cut their odds for Thierry Henry to leave Arsenal for Liverpool from 10/1 to 3/1, following a forty eight hour gamble on the London-to-Merseyside transfer going ahead.'We started to take calls asking for odds for Henry to join Liverpool a couple of days ago and initially offered 10/1, not believing it was that likely a move for the Frenchman. However, after taking increasingly more calls and bets - predominantly from the Liverpool area - we have shortened the odds significantly just in case there is something to the story, which has yet to emerge into the public domain.' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

WTF is Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson ? Apprently he is putting a HUGE wedge forward for the Hammers to spend.

Henry rumours are getting stronger; someone close to the club has said he is deffo signing for LFC, but there will be an unpleasant sting to go with it I have no idea what it, but best guess is a crowd favourite going in return. Still find it hard to believe, so prolly nothing in it.

Does seem Henry may well be leaving this time. The whole David Dein thing seems to be coming to a head with Wenger disillutioned (sp?) with the direction the club is taking and Cesc on the verge of handing in a transfer request. - All papertalk of course, but they did just miss out on their number 1 target Ribary whose gone to Munich.

I bet we're swapping Henry for Pennant!

Everyone was convinced he'd leave last season and he stayed. Dein leaving sucks ass but the clincher will be whether the board keep hold of Wenger.

With any luck Stan will buy the club and bring Dein back.

I'm assured LFC are talking to Henry but thats a huge difference to him joining us - just can't see them letting him.

Suggestions from Spain that Barca have asked Henry to tell Arsenal he wants to leave in the next 48 hours.

Can't see us giving permission to anyone to talk to him but I don't suppose that'll stop them.

This happens every year though. He's been on his way out for ages.

What some papers/sites don't make clear because it wouldn't sell as many papers, is in the interview where he talks about Dein, he also talks about how the team is developing and hopefully winning something next season. Wenger disillusioned? Again, don't know where thats come from.

The Liverpool link has to be the worst rumour ever though tbh. It makes no sense for Henry on a footballing level or Arsenal themselves. No disrespect to Liverpool, but its a step sideways.

I think a lot of these stories every summer are mainly created by the big boys looking to put transfer targets off of going to certain teams. Rumours of Henry and Fab leaving Arsenal would certainly have an effect on anyone we were thinking of signing.

I don't imagine we even registered much interest in Ribery tbh unfortunately. I think we barely have 17 in the transfer kitty let alone 17mil. We never would have been interested at that price.

He said: "I was devastated when Mr Dein left the club. I don't know what happened and I don't want to know."

And on possible moves from Milan, Henry added: "That is great to hear. How can it be anything else?"

Mr Dein leaving Arsenal was not a clever move

Henry added: "As I have said many times, at the moment I am an Arsenal player. But everyone knows that a lot of stuff has happened at the club recently that wasn't supposed to happen.

"So the only thing I can tell you is right now I am an Arsenal player but I cannot deny it's nice to hear about Milan."

Henry, whose personal advisor is Dein's son Darren, came out in strong support for the former vice-chairman, who left after "irreconcilable differences" with the Arsenal board.

Dein was also manager Arsene Wenger's closest confidante, and Henry told ESPN: "The bosses have been unsettled and a lot of players at the club have been unsettled.

"Although no one is bigger than the club, Arsene Wenger and Mr Dein are really close to being Arsenal.

"So if you ask me if there was one person on the board I would not like to see leaving, I would have said Mr Dein.

Aye read that and even if thats what he said, its still not saying much of anything really apart from airing his views on the situation which he has a right to do. Flattered by the Milan interest, aye fair enough. Still doesn't say he is going though.

I'll wait until he actually signs for someone else before getting in a flap and even then, in the grand scheme of things good luck to him. I'm not sure it wouldn't be a good move for us anyway tbh. He has seemed to have had far too much power over the squad than is good for one person in the last two or three seasons. The real problem is his ability to attract other players but we'd have to face that problem when he retires or is past it anyway.

Given his age, his indifferent form (by his own standands) last season and his injury and the fact Arsenal seem alittle stuck for . Maybe the time is right for Arsenal to cash in on him while they can still command a high transfer fee for him?

I agree Janie aye. It would be devastating to lose him, but more on an image level than anything else given his age and indifferent form for probably a couple of seasons now really as you've said.

I guess before any transfer he would have to prove he is over the injuries he's had though.

This is what he also said that you left out:

"The potential is definitely there. The signs are definitely there. So now let's hope we can put that all together and bring back some silverware.

"Man United didn't win the league for three years and finally they did it - who would have said that 10 years ago? So things happen sometimes, you have to keep going and make sure you can be better and have a great season next season.

"We're still playing good football, ok, not winning anything at the moment but you know, you have to give us that at least."
