Any truth in the rumours Rafa and the new owners aren't seeing eye to eye Flight (over transfer funds)?

I don't believe so Janie.

One thing I do know is that the top folk at the club have never been so secretive about transfers. I can tell you for a fact that absolutely none of the journalists know what is going on behind the scenes and are guessing at transfers and budgets. Its a complicated situation because Rafa doesn't get along at all with Rick Parry, our incompetent Chief Exec who is presently responsible for getting transfers done. The owners son is waiting on work permit to live here as General Manager, so things will change in that department.

Only two things I know are :

i) we are talking to Fernando Torres;

ii) the new owners have a totally new stadium design ready to submit for approval; no-one has seen it yet but Hicks says it will be the best football stadium in the world. The plans haven't been made public but I'm led to believe they are most similar to the Dallas Cowboys new stadium.

that is one very nice stadium! i wonder if people in Liverpool will enjoy the hike in ticket prices it will bring?

I'm not excited by the fact Leicester have signed Carl Cort :(
You're probably right not to be excited, but he's not bad when he stays fit. You might get an OK season out of him, and you haven't spent vast amounts of cash to get him like Newcastle and Wolves. I think being so injury prone has made him lose a bit of conviction going for balls etc, but I've seen him play live a few times vs. Championship opposition and he has always performed well, he even managed to score a goal once :)

Arsene is apparently in talks in Paris to swap Henry for Eto'o. Of course knowing how good the Spanish and French press are he is probably at home with his feet up and a nice cuppa watching Trisha.

Why the hell would he want to leave Barca and come to the Arse anyway.

Is it going to be one of those Summers where Liverpool almost sign just about everyone. What happened to Torres?

arff Roch :)

Spanish season doesn't finish until this weekend Tree. Rafa has a series of targets; beyond that I have no idea how any negotiations are going. I'd take Eto'o over Torres any day.

Eto'o has had big fall outs with the club and the manager over racism mate, which is the likeliest reason for him leaving Barca. Little action has been taken over outrageous incidents like bananas been thrown at him and worse. He wanted to stand up against it but the manager told him it wasn't important and to ignore it; he can no longer take his kids to the game because of it.

For this reason I would be surprised if he went to Milan - the problem is worse in Italy than Spain.

I haven't seen much of Torres but the little I have seen hasn't been very impressive. Villa always looked the more dangerous in the World Cup.
Forlan seems to be linked with Liverpool at the minute, he had one good season straight after leaving Utd. Not sure what he's done since.

Malouda to Chelsea, it would explain rumours of SWP being put up for sale. I would say 50/50 at present, but then the same odds for Liverpool amongst others of getting him.

Yes mate, think you are right :

From l'equipe tonight:

"Olivier Blanc a par contre dmenti les rumeurs qui envoient Malouda Chelsea contre Lassana Diarra. Il nous a t propos il y a deux semaines mais il n'entre pas dans nos plans. Le transfert de Malouda vers Chelsea n'est pas effectif. Malouda, est toujours en discussions avec Chelsea mais aussi Liverpool et un club espagnol
translated

Lyon chairman Blanc has denied rumours that Florent Malouda has signed for Chelsea in a swap deal with Lassana Diarra..this deal was proposed 2 weeks ago, but does not meet our requirements.
The transfer of Malouda to Chelsea is by no way a certainty, as he is still in discussions with Liverpool, Chelsea and a Spanish La Liga side."

He'd be in competition with Joe Cole at your gaff, while we are short of options on the left.

Guilleme Ballague said on SSN last night that Torres is desparate to get away from Madrid. When asked what he would cost, he said "24mill (Euros) plus Luis Garcia".

Story in todays press that Spurs have offered 14mill for Bent.

Eto'o interview in todays Times saying that he will decide whether he leaves Barca and that he wants to stay there to play with Henry.

i thought Malouda was right sided but i could be wrong.

Meaning Cole left, Malouda right and Robben off to Germany (Hopefully). Still i'd be surpised if it comes off!

Malouda is most definitely left sided mate. Frnech player of the year.

Spanish radio got hold of the Torres story now and reporting it is a done deal at 30mill euros plus Luis Garcia.

I rate Torres higher than you two (Tree and Janie); been captain of Madrid since he was 19, still only 23 and scored a decent number of goals in a poor attacking side. Always a gamble though, especially at that price.

I thought she was one of the weaker characters in Voyager tbh

One other thing they'll have in common is if he's like the usual Spanish players he'll be doing everthing in his power to get straight back home. :)
