The next door......

Brutus

Hairier than thou
Zues advances upon the next door, the flame catching his polished armour and somewhat used sword as he prowls up the stairs, then, in true paladin fashion stands directly in front of the door and tries to peer in through a small port with vertical bars upon it.

Inside there is nothing but darkness, even with his helm he can not see within. This strikes him as unusual as he raises his sword in preparation for an attack that does not seem to be coming.

Aristotle moves alongside him and peers over his shoulder at the thick oak door upon it's strong iron hinges, he then picks his nose.

Krissa gently moves to look further up the stairs and can only see stairs winding into the distance before her, there doesn't seem to be any light ahead, but listening closely she can hear a very faint and distant female voice, and the sounds of something very large moving around.

This conjures images of the golem into all of your minds, more than one pair of eye's flashes around you all. The thought of fighting one of those again does not seem to appeal.

Legaless stands a few feet from Aristotle as Zifnab catches up behind him. Legaless found that he need not look to realise this as the smell of tobacco, wine and the sound of long robes caressing the stone steps behind him had informed him better than anything. He made a mental note to remind Zifnab to make a pleasant smelling spell.

Tanthe moves across near to Krissa and tries to strain his hearing, also managing to pick up the faint voices in the distance. He looks at Krissa quizzically. Neither of you can make head nor tale of what the sounds really are, only something large and a female voice.

The stairs are silent aside from the occasional belch from Aristotle, and the gentle, almost pleasant sound of the torches eating away at the fuel they burned upon. A slight crackling sound when one is this close.

Isleth slowly exited the room below and advanced to Legaless' side saying nothing but bulging slightly in a new place in his pack. Some of you exchange knowing glances and wry grins at this. Especially Legaless.

Without being asked he then moves over to the door and spends a few minutes examining it in silence, silence. Well that was because Aristotle was trying to remove some food from between his teeth with a rusty old dagger, this was not in the least nit pleasant to watch.

Standing away Isleth whispers into Zeus' ear, "It's open, there aren't any traps......that I could find".

So.......what now?

[OOC: And which one of you has the bloody book again?]

Aristotle reaches down with one massive hand and tests the door catch gently. Pushing down, he opens the catch and very carefully opens the door just a crack. Hefting his ballista into place, he turns round to the rest of the party, checking their response to his opening the door.

Brutus

Hairier than thou
As the door swings open with a slight creak from the hinges you see that it slowly seems to fade from view into some sort of darkness the further that it is pushed.

There is something un-natural about it and it seems completey inpenetrable to any of your eye's. It doesn't seem to prevent movement though.

[OOC: Krissa, Zeus and Aristotle, you all have the skill 'blind fighting......thought you might want to know ;)]

Aristotle sniffs the air, looking for signs. Scratching his bum and turning back towards the impenetrable gloom, Aristotle calls out "Yoohoo?" and backs off from the gloom slightly.

Brutus

Hairier than thou
Aristotles nostrils fill with a dusty scent as he steps away from the door, the call of 'yoohoo!' echoing in the darkness before you all.

From the sounds of the echo the room must be fairly large, about the same size as the cellar you imagine. In the distance Krissa picks out the sound once more and spots something on the door frame.

There appears to be some sort of trip wire, coloured as the door is. It snakes along one side of the door and disappears through the ceiling .

Her eye's widen as she notices that a sound is approaching, evidently from far away, very heavy. In an instant a door can be heard closing in the distance, perhaps directly above your heads on the staircase as dust falls from the shadow wreathed cieling upon your heads, a dull thumping becoming audible as getting closer and closer.

Something is coming.

What now?

[OOC: Guess you all get to thank Pip later for that one!, if Isleth had checked the door he wouldn't have found the trap anyway. I wouldn't let him >:)]

'Look' Kryssa whispers urgently, pointing to the trip wire 'I'm guessing we don't want to go into that room without seeing what that does.'
She glances back up the stairs, hoping against hope that whatever it is hasnt made its appearance yet. The thudding heading towards suddenly makes the dark room seem a whole lot more appealing.
'Or maybe we do?'

[ooc: just to say I do like this way of doing the story, much easier to follow whats going on than loads of emails :)]

[OOC: What spells do I currently have at my disposal actually?]

Zifnab gulps at the sound, and tries to estimate how long it'll take for the thing to come over. He whispers: "I'd bet it's a bit wee too soon 'ere for us to make a proper ambush, but something could and definitely should be done hastily..."

He backs away to the far side of the room, away from the entrance to the dark room, and looks to see what his comrades are doing.

Colin flutters over to Aris, squeaks into his ear and slaps him slightly, thereafter Colin flies over to Zif to sit on his shoulder...

Tripwire

Isleth pauses a moment to look at the tripwire, his head shaking somewhat at the sight. <how could i have missed that one?> he thought.

Stepping over quietly he turned to his left and, with his left hand tracing gently against the wall he moved forwards, slowly, quietly trying his best to look 'hidden' even in the pitch darkness....

<Dammit ring, cant you help me here?> he thought...

Legaless stays in possion by the door , bow armed, with the toughts that if the wire could stop us going in if touched it might stop something comeing out.

Hearing Legaless's request for light, Bakaris casts a globe of light into the darkness through the doorway and steps carefully through over the trip wires to join the rest of the party.

The light spell is cast wel and formed into the darkness. The burning ember blazing into life before him and simply disappearing into the darkness before.

It seems that light will not penetrate the darkness......

[OOC: Sorry for the wait, fraid my uncles rather potent vodka has more than a little to do with that, especially since Im still pissed three days later.....oh my kidneys. Will get going A.S.A.P]
