Yeah, apart from IGN who I understand marked it down to 8.2 for having too steep a learning curve. I watched a couple of their walkthrough videos, they clearly don't understand strategy games....

not reading anything, not seen any videos, not played the demo.

I think I'm just going to move myself and my PC into a dark box and stay there for a few weeks with xcom :D

Playing Xcom in the dark is asking for trouble.

saying that, even the original enemy unknown (or UFO defence now), still makes me a bit tense, its that bloody "music", duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh. Its usually the crysalid appearing behind my squad that makes me swear most.

Have read the impressive reviews to the various versions over the years and recently played the demo. Seems my type of game ie. more like exciting chess than how many times u can click a button in a minute, so i'm planning to get it but a bit skint atm.

So see yas soon(ish).

Have to say, I was running through the tutorial and I was thinking it was a bit linear, but I have to say after giving it a few hours I am enjoying it. I still wish it was a bit more open and similar to the old one, but I can live with it.

It's the same old thing though, the end result is the same, things are just simplified and made faster, which I dunno, takes some of the enjoyment out of it for me. I'm referring specifically to the "Click to do mission, or not" and what not.
