Titan Quest

Bit of background info for folks who dont know anything about Titan Quest, which is coming out in two months time.

Its being made by Brian Sullivan, the co-creator of Age of Empires. Everyone working on it is of the same caliber. He started Iron Lore in 2001 and this is their first game.

They have openly aimed to make Diablo 3 as Blizzard never have. The major difference is that TQ will ship with a level editor. They want the same elements of Diablo that were/are so addictive (diverse class system, hack and slash, lots of loot of amazing diversity - set, random stats, uniques, charms, etc), but the story line and graphics are huge improvements.

The game is set throughout Ancient Greece, Egypt and Babylon and includes many real life areas. The quests are set in established Mythology as is much of the item system.

Another thing I like is that any item a mob drops it will have been using and you will see it equipped before killing it.

There will be lots of graphic options, so it will play on most PC's.

I'm guessing that Titan Quest being as it's aimed at D3 means it could be played locally on a network or openly with/against other people ?

I like the fact I see skeletons, I hope players can summon them :)

Looks like a fancy dungeon siege

Sullivan has openly admitted its a Diablo clone mate, in a number of interviews (though not in this very nice article, which is the most recent).

It has multi player mate, very much in the Diablo style, but with no PvP, only Co-op. There are pet summoning skills so I would be surprised if they dont include skels. Following is a pet summon screenie :

This gonna be free to play online?

Yes mate, it will be free to play via Gamespy.

I believe the game will be better than Diablo in every way. To be honest this might be the only aspect of the game where they fall short. It sounds as though there will be no hosted servers, like Battlenet.

However, it does ship with a level editor and full online play. Its supposed to be even easier than NWN to create levels, quests etc. This means we could have our own server and I expect a lot of folks out there will be running servers too.

To be clear, this is my best guess. Very little has been said about online play except that there will be no PvP, only co-op and that Gamespy will support it.

Might I suggest selling everything you own, moving to live in china with your money and you'll have much more freetime to play.[/postcard]

Will pre-order 2 copies when we get back from hols with hopefully the leftover holiday money :)
